SFI was drawn into the investigation after discovering Richardson responsible for the nano-probes on the SB22 murder and Vanguard sabotage efforts on the Vindicator. The man is arrested for interrogation. 5 Lt Prescott sat in his office at a table with Gunnery Sergeant Redding. They were reviewing the after action reports on the last engagement with the Krivaldi. Prescott felt that the new sensors, and M-LCARS operated perfectly and the weapons remained in sync with them as well, kill ratios are a lot higher. But the Eva suits had to be upgraded the standard armor was not sufficient. Gunny sergeant Redding felt the same way and told Prescott he would have engineering fabricate new plating and have it simulation tested. This should make them ready for the next engagement. Redding estimated maybe 18 hours. At this point Lt Prescott was informed that a new cadet was here to see him. An OCS Cadet Johnson was shown into Prescott's office and he stood before Lt Prescott and saluted smartly. Prescott reviewed his academy record find him top of the class. Prescott assigned Johnson to the 1st Platoon. Gunny Sergeant Redding would be Johnson's Sergeant. Prescott told Redding to watch over the cadet and smooth out the ruff edges. Redding said that the Cadet would turn out fine. 6 The Vindicator continued at warp encountering no further resistance and Como Thompson order the ship out of warp and to continue on at full impulse to Sb 369. On the star base Lieutenant Justin Chadwald was in formed that a Jem'Hadar assault ship was approaching as identified by the sensors. Justin ordered the phasers to fire scoring a direct hit on Vindicators hull. When the ship came on their view screen Justin realized it was federation. He notified the operations officer. The officer realized the sensors were out of calibration in some manner. Justin lowed the shields and powered down the weapons hoping the Vindicator would understand since there subspace communications was out. Thompson wasn't sure what had happened and was alarmed but he still felt the station was under federation control. Vindicator had suffered some damage Lt Jeffries indicated hull breaches on decks 3, 4, 7 and power loss on deck 6. Lt Vokar acknowledged that the station had powered down their weapons. Thompson decided to beam over to the station with Lt Vokar. Lt Cmdr Vance asked Como Thompson not to go because of star fleet regulations Vance indicated that he should take the away team. Thompson order Vance to take command of the ship and if any thing happened get the Vindicator out of the area and report back to sb 22 on the situation. Thompson and Vokar then beamed over to sb 369. Justin and his officers hid with phasers ready as Thompson and Vokar materialized. Thompson ordered cease fire and the station officers approached and holster there weapons. Justin had hoped the Vindicator was there relief. Justin informed Thompson of the situation and loss of personal including his captain during the 12 attacks. Thompson informed Justin that they were not the relief but would help in what ever way they could. 7 ** Dr. Vosen quizzes medical student Mark Emerson on various clinical diagnostic skills, while treating a marine who had suffered from a hard blow to the chest. Interrupting, one of the ED clerks walks in to deliver news on Hutcherson's away team. The CMO's shuttle had been hit, and one critical patient is expected. 8 Commodore Thompson entered the med bay seeing that a lot of marine casualties were present. Dr. Hailey Ryder approached Thompson and discussed the casualties with the commodore. After discussing the serious casualties Thompson Told Dr Ryder that he had some medals for the marines. Dr Ryder felt that it would be good for their moral. 2Lt Prescott asked Dr Ryder about one causality and asked her to keep him informed and went over to talk to the now awake Cdt Tatlock. Thompson saw that Cdt Tatlock was awake and went over to him. Thompson presented Cdt Tatlock with the Purple Hart and promoted the cadet to a second Lieutenant. 2Lt Prescott congratulated 2Lt Tatlock. Thompson then turned to 2Lt Prescott. Commodore Thompson promoted second Lieutenant Prescott to a first lieutenant. Tatlock and Thompson congratulated 1Lt Prescott. Thompson also gave 1Lt Prescott a new position company executive officer. Thompson then headed off to deliver some awards to other marines. 9 Aboard the dominion battle ship Kendar approached the founder whom had taken the form of a table with a vase on its top. Kendar approached the table and it quickly took a solid humanoid form. Kendar told the founder they had attacked and tried to board SB 369 but were repulsed. Kendar asked for permission to destroy the base. The founder told Kendar no because the base is of strategic importance as a forward base to attack several other places they must board and take the station. Kendar acknowledged and had his officer make preparations to set up another boarding assault on sb369. 10 LtCmdr Kryton-Vance was back from sick leave after a serious operation. James was feeding his son Kyle who fell asleep after his bottle and was then placed in the crib. James daydreamed a bit about his wife Erin and his son and felt he was a very lucky man to be there for them. James started on a back log of paper work when he noticed that Commodore Thompson was coming through the lab to his office. James opened the door and Thompson came in. James offered Thompson a seat and asked what he could do for the Commodore. Thompson told James that Cmdr Dex'el has stepped down as XO. Thompson felt that the Csci had done a exemplary job as 2XO and would like him to take over as XO. LtCmdr Kryton-Vance excepted the Commodores offer. James was made executive officer immediately and required to take beta shift at 12:00 hours. James checked with Thompson about the next Csci and felt Lt Kryton-Vance would be an excellent choice the commodore agreed. Thompson then left for the bridge and James called Erin to the lab office. 11 1Lt Prescott steps into the office with the after action report and gives it the Company CO MCaptain William Velori. Immediately Captain Velori calls 1Lt Prescott on the carpet for making decisions that are not due a Platoon Leader. The two officers get into a verbal argument. Velori feels he is right and that Prescott is insubordinate and out of line. Prescott feels that the Captain is to worried about spit and polish rather than getting the job done. The argument continues and Captain Velori wants the officers rank revoked. Prescott finally leaves ignoring the Captain to check on his men. The Captain is then called to a senior officers meeting so he will have to settle his argument latter. 12,18 apparent repeat 2nd LT Andrew Tatlock was finally released from sick bay to return to his duties as a pilot. The doctor had not granted him full fight clearance for another week. Tatlock decided to stop by and see 1Lt Prescott. He was told Prescott was in a meeting and would latter be in a senior officer conference. Tatlock returns to his quarters seeing his name plate changed and new marine uniforms. Tatlock puts the uniforms away and sets down and admires his medal for a bit. 13 Cadet Johnson was walking into the barracks of the first platoon with gunny sergeant Redding. Cdt Johnson was made the platoon commander. Johnson asked sergeant Redding to form the platoon up for him once in quarters. The platoon formed a circle around Cdt Johnson at Redding's command. Cdt Johnson explained that he was their new platoon commander and that he was an Infantry Officer by trade and originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. Johnson asked if any of the marines were from there. Two said yes. Johnson said that he would expect more from them. Johnson finished his talk and asked Sergeant Redding to carry on for the day while Johnson checked out their new equipment. 14 James was spending a little time with his wife Erin before beta shift started. She reminded him that he had to go on duty. James absentmindedly forgot to change from the Csci uniform to a command one. Erin graciously reminded him of it and provide his uniform change. James was off and arrived on the bridge on time. He checked on where the Commodore and the away team were and asked operation to be able to beam them out quickly if there was any trouble. James ordered science to carefully scan long range for anything as well as cloaked ships. Everything was quit this shift so James went through the engineering repair reports coming in. Lt Cmdr Kryton-Vance would look up from the reports occasionally to check any change in happenings. 15 ** Dr. Hutcherson returns to reality, waking up lying down on a bio-bed in one of Sickbay ED's exam rooms. Drs. Vosen and Clark had examined/ treated him, finding no serious injuries caused by whatever he had hit his head with. Hutcherson gets up and insists on getting back to his duties as ship's CMO. 16 ** Seeing himself 'capable' of returning to work, Hutcherson heads to the nearby trauma room, where Dr. Ryder attempts a difficult intubation. Hutcherson gives it a try, but just as he does a headache comes up, as well as a general feeling of fatigue. Dr. Hutcherson agrees to step down to get some rest. 17 Dana, Matt, Julia and Derek reached deck 16 and started to work on repairing the messed up plasma conduits. They decided that if they split up they could get more work down quickly. Julia and Derek took the next section and Dana and Matt took the section they were in. Dana and Matt started to work on the conduit first rerouting the plasma flow shutting down power in the section they were working in. Dana had not apparently completely got it rerouted and sustained a plasma burn in the shoulder. Matt kept asking her if she was hurt. She replied that nothing sickbay can't handle and wonder why she was still an engineer. They continued replacing isolinears and Gel packs and conduit sections. Dana received one more burn from a loose conduit section but they continued on with the repairs. 19 Commodore Thompson was looking at the star base in his ready room and it's obvious battle scars. He hit his COM and called 2Lt Tatlock to his ready room. Tatlock arrived and Thompson sat him down to talk with him. Commodore Thompson asked Tatlock if he could take over as the squadron Commander since the present Commander had been taken ill on SB 22. Andrew excepted the position. Then Thompson asked Tatlock how he felt about transferring the squadron to the star base or should it remain with the Vindicator. Lt Tatlock replied that he felt that the fighters should remain with Vindicator since the star base space doors were frozen open and he agreed that some of the pilots should be transferred to the marines to protect the base. Lt Tatlock suggested we could leave 4 fighters and six shuttle craft with a volunteer only detachment to crew them that way we have our fighter asset for both the Vindicator and the starbase. Como Thompson agreed and Lt Tatlock suggested one more idea. The use of holo projection to make it look like the base had more ships there than really were there. Thompson agreed and suggested he see Lt Jackson about the setup of it with a shuttle. 20 Commodore Thompson adjusted his tactical screen in the ready room waiting for the called senior officer conference. Lt Vokar received his call and left security for the conference and came in and set down with his padd. Dr Hutcherson after being released for duty was rushing around in sick bay when he got the call. He got to the ready room and sat down in his lab coat looking a bit haggard. Lt Cmdr Kryton-Vance received the call at the end of the beta shift from his station. He checked on the ship and left orders about scanning for incoming enemy ships. Lt Cmdr Kryton-Vance headed for the ready with his COM on call in case an emergency arose. He took his seat and checked his reports. Marine Captain Velori came in and took a seat checking his padd he seemed quit. Lt Jeffries arrived and took his seat at the far end of the room. He sat down and down loaded his operations reports incase he was called upon to report. Commodore Thompson started the meeting. First he indicated that starbase 369 was at a strategic crossroads allowing access to Pacifica and talos IV as well as many others. Thompson indicated that the dominion were coming back to the base and that it must be held by the federation. He suggested leaving a skeleton crew on the Vindicator and sending it back to sb 22 for reinforcements. The majority of the crew and resources would be sent to sb 369 to hold the base during the attack. Jeffries indicated that the Vindicator couldn't supply the needed resources to hold the base during a heavy attack. Thompson agreed and felt this was a stall for time to get reinforcements but was a necessary stall. 21 Lt Vokar asked whom the skeleton crew was going to be and suggested that the structure of the Vindicator be strengthened so that it may proceed to sb 22 at higher warp. Como Thompson replied that the crew will be under Commander Desmond Steele and to do what you can but the primary emphasis is to strengthen sb 369. LtCmdr Kryton-Vance suggest that the EMP weapon be checked and possibly installed on SB 369. It would complement the marines and give them a better chance. Lt Vokar suggested that LtCmdr Vance and Cmdr Dex install it on sb 369. LtCmdr Kryton-Vance also suggested that a contingency plan be drawn up for the civilian personal as well as mothers and children. Lt Vokar agreed and suggested they be taken to SB 22 for duration of this mission. MCapt Velori suggested that the marines be deployed on sb 369 now. Captain Velori felt that the krivaldi/dominion really wanted to take the base intact. Again Velori felt that the marines would be essential in the delay process for federation reinforcements. Thompson agreed with Velori and made him company commander of the marines both on the station and Vindicator. Thompson said he would inform 2Lt Pearson and Lt Chadwald. Dr Hutcherson stood up to talk. He felt the use of the EMP weapon to augment the marines was a very good idea. It would essentially delay the main attack as long as possible. Hutcherson felt that type delaying action was necessary due to the state of sickbay and medical supplies. There simply was no longer enough to go around. Como Thompson then put Dr Hutcherson in charge of taking care of transferring the civilian complement to Vindicator and transferring med supplies to SB 369. Hutcherson then asked Velori how many marines he actually had including sb 369. Captain Velori responded that including sb 369 and Vindicator he can muster up 204 marines which he felt was more than enough. Como Thompson concluded the meeting and said time was short and preparations had to be made within 12 days. 22 Como Thompson was writing a report to Vice Admiral Acheson about the situation. Thompson was taking a gamble that the admiral would get reinforcements together quickly enough to reinforce the star base before the Dominion was able to take it. Thompson was notified that a single Jem Hadar ship was approaching the Vindicator's position, eta 1 hour. Thompson then replied monitor the ships position and maintain yellow alert. The dominion ship dropped from warp and came to a stop close to the Vindicator. Thompson raised shields and activated the ships arms at red alert. The Dominion ship did nothing in response. It then hailed the Vindicator. The dominion officer Kendar greeted Como Thompson whom wanted to know what they were doing here. Kendar asked to be allowed to come aboard the Vindicator since he wanted to talk to the Commodore personally. Thompson granted Kendar permission to come aboard. Kendar came to the conference room with two dominion guards as well as Vokar's star fleet security. They were ordered to stand out side and Thompson offered Kendar a seat and they sat down to talk. Kendar told Thompson that the Vindicator and the star base were surrounded and that the dominion would eventually take the base. In order to save lives Kendar offered a one time grant from the founder. The dominion would leave Vindicator alone and allow it to return to SB 22 if Thompson removed all personal from the base to the Vindicator and peaceably left this space leaving sb 369 behind. Kendar gave Como Thompson 12 hours to except the offer.
