They chat and joke over various things, taking time off from the stress of work. While leaving the restaurant, Matt catches a video news broadcast - a report regarding the newly formed 'Utopia Commission" (similar to our 9/11 Commission). 36 ** Staff anesthesiologist Dr. Joel Vosen goes over teaching points with Dr. Hutcherson at the ICU. The patient they discuss is CSEC Lt. Reid, in an induced coma to help relieve pressure in his brain. He's expected to wake later for extubation. Seeing the young patient on the bed, Hutcherson feels a certain disapproval with the Academy's 'fast-track' programs. 37 2Lt Prescott arrives at the company commanders office and sees what appears to be his clerk a private acting like he is on leave or very informal. 2Lt Prescott chews him down and finds out the sergeant in charge was late for his duty shift. Prescott doesn't like it and tells the private to inform GSSG Redding about the situation and get it squared away. Prescott goes into the office and investigated what the Major was doing by looking over the files. He finds he has to attend a battalion meeting on sb 22. 2Lt Prescott heads for the meeting and arrives finding himself sitting with two marine captains. The Battalion commander comes in and the meeting starts. 38 Cadet Tatlock arrived at the boarding lounge and was informed the Vindicator would be docking in about an hour. Tatlock got his stuff and watched the Vindicator come in and Dock and watched the large boarding hatch open. He watched the technicians board and followed them. Tatlock saw the duty officer who gave him his orders to find his lodging and report to the flight hanger and the chief pilot, watch out for the commodore and finally the duty officer greeted the cadet telling him he was glade the cadet was on board. 39 Lcpl Joran Tryn got his men together and covered boarding operations: weapons, entry tactics, moving or mode of action, nerve centers and objective attainment. Tryn put the men through various drills. In one entry scenario he stopped one of the marines and showed him his mistake. The marine entered the room and hesitated. This would allow the combatant time to recover. Tryn point out that they should never hesitate. Tryn had them re-perform the drills. 40,41(corr) Staff Sergeant Joeleco 283 listened to the news about the shipyards and the destruction on the war occurring and finally boarding time came. Joeleco 283 met with a problem while trying to board. Joeleco 283 would not be allowed to board without ID due to the war time situation. Joeleco 283 emptied the mess kit and after spilling everything the holo ID card was found. The boarding officer excepted it and passed the NCO through. 42 ** Dr. Hutcherson heads to the Marine lounge/locker room to grab medical supplies from his tactical vest. Prescott and Tryn show up, having just gotten out of training and ready for some 'chow'. Prescott notices Hutcherson and proceeds to start a conversation with the doctor. Ranks come into play, but Hutcherson feels no need to take it seriously 43 ** Prescott acknowledges Dr. Hutcherson as a new team medic, and suggests providing the AMO with a first-responder medic bag. Prescott also asks if Hutcherson could help keep their medics updated on their certifications, and the doctor agrees. An invitation to join the Marines for 'chow' was given, but Hutcherson admits to some work he has at the ICU. 44 Ensign Jax and Ensign Surov finish finding the problem on Surov's Viper Medium fighter and turn the problem over to the flight tech. They head for SB 22. Ens Jax wants romulan Ale and Ens Surov reluctantly goes with him. In the dance bar Ens Jax gets pretty lit on the romulan ale while Surov watches. Jax spots two bajorian women and decides to get to know them better. Jax tells them stories getting drunker while Surov watches. Jax finally decides to shack up with the women and goes to their quarters with Ens Surov reluctantly following. The women and Jax disappear into the backroom and Surov falls asleep on the couch. Surov is awoken by phaser fire and he goes to the door and Jax comes out full of blood. Surov has to knock Jax out finding the bajorian women dead in a pool of blood. Both Surov and Jax are arrested by the security for murder. 46 ** Dr. Ryder questions Mark Emerson (med student) on his findings during Commander Jenkins' physical exam. They go over important clinical points - Jenkins had been beaten pretty bad in the past. After Mark's case presentation, Ryder collects all the inforation and prepares to inform the security department of the issue. 47 Vice Admiral Acheson gave Commodore Thompson a crew lounge to use on SB 22 and the crew assembled for some light entertainment. Thompson called their attention to the podium in the back. He had some awards and promotions to issue. Lt James Kryton-Vance was called forward and promoted to a Lieutenant Commander. This done Lt (JG) Erin Kryton-Vance was called forth and promoted to a full Lieutenant. After this Lt (JG) Reid and Ens Vokar were called fourth and were awarded the Kragite Order of Heroism and the purple heart, for injuries sustained in the line of duty. After this Lt (JG) Rhodes and Ens Hutcherson were called forth and given the Golden Hart award. Ens Hutcherson was also promoted from Ensign to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Following this Cmdr Dex'el, Lt Tam Stadi, and Lt Akida Rose Jackson were called out and awarded the Preantares ribbon. Lt Stadi was also promoted to Lieutenant Commander and Lt Jackson was also given the Fleet Commendation. Finally Cdt Carsons was called forth and promoted to Ensign. 48 Ens Jax was interrogated by investigator Morgan whom wanted to know why he killed the two bajorian women. The investigator says Jax is a murderer. Jax calls for a lawyer but the investigator said he doesn't have to get him one because of the emergency war powers act. The investigator calls several security into the room and he then puts a phaser to Jax head but Jax still calls for a lawyer. The interrogation ends with Morgan finding out nothing. Morgan checks with his partner about Surov and the partner found out nothing also. Back on the Vindicator library Sorel uses an isoliniar chip to extract an encrypted message from the core and translates it and then erases all traces of it and leaves. 49 ** Lt. Reid wakes up in the ICU from his induced coma, with dressings wrapped around his head. Amanda Jenkins comes in after a tech extubates the CSEC, and provides pain meds. Reid asks whether she could see his Grandfather. Jenkins says she couldn't see anyone he described, and Reid realizes 'Grandpa' was only from his mind. 50 ** Dr. Hutcherson comes into the ICU to check up on Reid. The doctor thanks Jenkins for supervising the extubation. Examining Reid, Hutcherson tells his patient he'll have to rest for approximately 3 days. Jenkins confirms having ordered a post-extubation blood gas test. Reid's mind returns to a nightmarish moment while battline with Vanguard agents. 51,52(corr) 2Lt Prescott goes back to his office and checks his information. Prescott goes to holo deck 4 and starts a rifleman's certification and is called by Sgt Malarkey. Malarkey tells Prescott that the quarter master has more new equipment for him to sign in. Prescott goes to Secure Armory on SB 22 and finds that he is signing in for five MX-308 "Raptor" APC's four for infantry and one for command. Then eight Mk I "Vulture" UAV's that were no larger than a Photon torpedo casing. Prescott is a little perplexed since his company is light infantry not mechanized. Prescott returns to the vindicator and does his rounds on the training program. Prescott is challenged by a fresh powerful marine out of boot camp in the sand box. Prescott takes him on as a demonstration of how to use a combatant enemies strength against him. 53 Ens Vokar woke and checked the time and had his juice got dressed in his climbing outfit and headed for the turbo lift. He was going to holodeck 3 and contacted Akida on the COM. She had just reached her quarters to change. She told Vokar that and shut down the COM. Akide greeted her cat Kirara, ate and changed into her climbing outfit. She left her quarters for the turbo lift heading for holodeck 3. Vokar had reached the holodeck and punched in the program. He entered and found himself in the Vulcan hills that his father had took him through many times as a child. Ens Voker created a base camp and his climbing gear. At this point Alida had left the turbo lift and had entered the holodeck. She was quite impressed by what she saw. 54 Ens Vokar told Akida that she will need the harness on the climb because in spots the mountain face is almost vertical. The pack contained food for when they reached the top and he showed Akide the mountain they were climbing. Vokar said the climb is a log one. But Akida told him she didn't need the harness but took the pack. They started out toward the mountain. Vokar told Akida that he knew what she was hiding and that it was wrong to do. It was her heritage. She should be proud of it. Akida was a bit up set because she thought Vokar was spying on her. Vokar explained he was security and had to check things out if he felt someone was hiding something. He sensed it in her. Akida was upset but since Vokar knew she removed her head band and released her tail. 55 2Lt Prescott dressed in his dress marine uniform attend the awards ceremony and talked a bit with Lt Jackson and Ens Vokar and several others. The brass from battalion were also there talking about the war effort. Prescott stayed long enough to be polite and then headed back to quarters when it got latter. He checked his messages and found he had a video letter from his father. Prescott found his father had completed retraining and was now a lieutenant Colonel and was commanding the 308th Assault Reserve Battalion. He would shortly be sent to the Breen sector or the Gorn sector. But in any case there was heavy fighting in both. Prescott was worried to many families in harms way. 56 ** CTAC Ens. Vokar is interrupted in the middle of his work on the bridge by Dr. Hailey Ryder, who asks whether he has reviewed the profile of one of the new AMO's (Amanda Jenkins). The doctor informs Vokar of Jenkins' past history as a victim of domestic violence, and wonders if she (Jenkins) is emotionally fit to perform her duties as AMO. 57 ** Vokar tells Dr. Ryder that he will discuss the issue about Jenkins' abusive past with Commodore Thompson, having noticed one of Jenkins' previous posts to be on the Nightshade (a ship which Thompson also once served before). Dr. Ryder recommends security precautions and for them to search up a 'Patrick O'Neill', Jenkins' abusive ex-partner. 58 Commodore Thompson walked into Admiral Acheson office and Como Thompson reported on the mission. The information from the computers in the Hauton system had been obtained and the Vindicator had much more resistance than expected. Acheson told Thompson that the Vanguard in question were no longer a problem. Thompson didn't understand but Acheson showed Thompson the communiqué where the Vanguard had drawn a truce until the war was over. They had no wish to contribute to the federation enemies. Acheson told Thompson that all federation intelligence was being pulled from Vanguard efforts for use in the war effort. The next mission was to determine what happened and if Star base 369 was still under federation control. It is not far from Gorn space. Resistance may be encountered in trying to get there. Thompson suggested a task force but Acheson said that would draw attention he wanted to just determine if the base was under federation control if so he would mount a campaign. However, they were not to go into full combat at this time if such resistance was encountered they were to return to SB 22. Fleet had decided not to risk Capital ships at this point. 59 2Lt Prescott runs his men through a holo-program on the MX-308 Raptors. They run through heavy forest and gullies and streams. Prescott realizes that the holo program has just about everything in it but its still not the real thing. He just hopes it will be enough when real battle occurs. The Apcs are impressive using a three man crew consisting of a driver, gunner that operates a remote Type-IV Heavy Pulse Gun, and himself manning a M-LCARS III, that tracks the APC's and its crew. Once the simulation has completed the marines return to the training area on deck 34. Prescott tells his men that though they had no shore leave and have been training since they left the Hauton system. It's war and it is necessary for there survival. 60 Lt Stadi was placing ablative armor on the ship around the nav deflector and was in the process of removing a bad peace and then setting the new one. Stadi received a COM call from Como Thompson that he was required to attend a ship function in dress uniform. The details were on his screen. The job done Lt Stadi docked and beamed back up to the transporter room near his quarters, he went to his quarters , showered, and dressed in his uniform. 61 Lt Stadi attended the banquet and when he and his engineering officers were called by Como Thompson he was proud they received the Preantares ribbon for controlling the ship in the Hauton system. Stadi was happy when he received the promotion to Lieutenant Commander. And Happy for Lt Jackson receiving the fleet commendation. After the awards were completed. Stadi checked on the ships over hall and found that it was progressing on schedule. He then continued on with the banquet. 62 ** Dr. Vosen and Dr. Hutcherson clear the toxin out of Lt. Waters' system, and a surgeon closes the stinger wound on his forearm. Waters, however, continues to complain about the pain. Aside, Vosen quietly informs Hutcherson that their patient has a documented narcotics addiction. In case Waters' pain was real, the two physicians agree to give an axillary nerve block to cut off all pain signals from Waters' affected arm. 63 Lt Reid had come back from sick bay and completed his security rounds and then wrote an encrypted letter to Como Thompson. He had done a through background check on all personal due to the war time condition and found one with discrepancies that didn't add up a now Lt Hutcherson MD something appeared to be wrong with his files and he should be thoroughly checked. Reid also was suspending his commission at this time and returning home saying he wasn't sure of himself. 64 LTC Sanchez feels he is running out of time his supplies are down equipment and electronics is failing due to pounding rain. For Lt Nulls the situation is bad the enemy gorn are constantly testing his marine lines and snipers are playing havoc with his medics and officers on top of it the bombardment from space occurs whenever the gorn ships are in an orbital window. A barrage occurs and after the ships have passed out of the window. Lt Nulls sends medics out to help the injured marines. Again the medics are killed by snipers and the sergeant comes to Lt Nulls and tells him. Suddenly Lt Nulls is struck down by a sniper bolt. LTC Sanchez now has to deal with the growing sniper fatalities. 65 ** At SB22's crew lounge, Dr. Hutcherson attends an awards and promotion ceremony. We see his thoughts of his own promotion to Lt (JG)., and on receiving the Golden Heart award. The doctor chats with Prescott, while thinking about his job and other doctors and surgeons sharing similar responsibilities. He is paged by an ICU nurse, telling him that Lt. Waters' nerve block seems ineffective. 66 James, Dex, and Erin ate but Kyle woke and dad held him while he ate. In the process Kyle succeeded in making a mess of dad but the dinner finished and Erin asked James and Dex to put up the crib in the bed room. Dex thought situation over and decided to install a number of other electronic features including adding a special robot Nanny. James needed to get the bed together but the features sounded good since they would allow Kyle to be better protected better. Dex and James completed the bed and Cmdr Dex had the rest of the parts beamed over. James and Dex installed the new hardware and as they finished Erin came in seeing all the stuff wondering what in the world was going on. Dex and James immediately saw an explanation was in order. 67, 68(corrected) Erin could see that something dazzlingly strange was coming out of this project. She just wanted to here the explanation. She was having a hard time keeping from laughing but she would listen Dad and God farther were doing there best to try and keep little Kyle safe. Dex explained that the crib due to having grav plates was mobile and the system possessed a holo fish called Nemo and as well as scenery display including a galaxy and musical stars top entertain the youngster. It was a mobile entertainment system for Kyle as well as a crib to keep him busy. Dex continued showing Erin that it had sensors and force shield projectors to help protect Kyle plus an alarm system. It also could take pictures so Erin and James would not miss special moments if they happened to be in the lab working. Dex said later he was planning on a science tie in for the crib system. 69 Dex felt his explanation was satisfactory and after thinking about it Erin thought so to then she asked Cmdr Dex if he would baby sit Kyle while she and James went out. Dex was thinking it over and Erin had to check on something in the living room so she gave Kyle to James for a bit and left. James placed Kyle in the holding chair and finished up on the remaining crib circuits. Kyle started laughing and his hands accidentally hit some buttons on the control box. The robot Nanny came active and immediately picked up James and Dex and placed them in the crib and activated the protective force shield. Dex and James were packed like sardines in a can in the crib. Erin came in seeing the situation and couldn't keep a strait face this time. She freed both James and Dex after warning them they may have gone to far with there safety devices. Dex sort of agreed about the Nanny and pulled the master programming module. At this point they received a communiqué from Como Thompson to attend a dress function on Sb22. Everyone scurried to get ready. 70 2Lt Prescott finished his reports and filing duties. He thinks to himself that one wouldn't believe all the reports that have to be done. Prescott finally finishes and heads to his quarters, showers, dresses and heads to the starbase promenade. Prescott first visits a Barns and Nobel bookshop and buys a book and magazine. He then Heads to Starbucks and buys a hamburger and a Latté coffee. Prescott is enjoying his coffee when agent Morgan stops and asks him about Ens's Jax and Surov. Prescott doesn't know them but tells Morgan that he wouldn't tell him anything if he did. He just follows the orders of his superior officers. Prescott leaves and heads for a local drinking establishment. 71 In the automaton Lab Skinny has just finished working on his MK-II wasp. He had just installed a heavier power source and was now laying some extra armor on the wasp skeleton. Skinny had just turned the original MK-I into a sort of hornet. His assistant came in with simulation data showing some of the hornets new capability. He tells the assistant to leave and calls Eta on a secured channel. Skinny was unhappy about the Vanguard closing down his project due to their armistice. He decides to sell the product to Eta. Eta declines the deal due to increased pressure from the federation on him. After closing the channel Eta calls Saliss an Orion syndicate boss and asks him to get his bounty hunter and target Skinny alive or dead but preferred alive. Eta explains due to the times it's better for both there interests. Saliss complies and calls Vertos the bounty hunter and gives him the new target. Vertos in the Space-Iron Heel heads off in pursuit of Skinny. 72 Ens Vokar finished up practicing tactical scenarios on the holodeck feeling that he had had enough time in. He head off to the turbo lift and headed directly for the chief tactical officers office. He entered and sat down at his desk and hit his COM and called the tactical crew to an immediate meeting and waited. There were 20 crewmen and officers in his office now with 10 more on duty. Vokar called the meeting to order. He informed them that he was Ens Vokar and the new Chief Tactical officer. He also wanted to know why the targeting sensors went down with the last engagement with the civilian space station and queried his people. A Vulcan female crewman T'Pira stepped forward and told Vokar that diagnostics had showed no reason for the problem but she had found fragments of access requests in the system which some one had tried to delete. Vokar dismissed the rest and sat her down and told her she was going to work with him for the time being. They went to the sensor control and checked access during the time in question. Vokar and T'Pira found that 11 had accessed and 10 were accounted for, one had been deleted. It looked like sabotage and Vokar was going to report to Como Thompson and Cmdr Dex About it with T'Pira in several hours. 73 Ens Vokar sat at his desk wondering about the possible sabotage and the collected bioscan he found. He just received the message that Ens's Jax and Surov under the emergency war powers act were being held with the charge of murder. Vokar sent a message asking Como Thompson as to how he should handle the problem. Ens Vokar then called sick bay and asked to have the bioscan he found checked against the crew. He told sick bay he had reason to believe that he or she whom this scan belonged to had sabotaged the targeting sensors during the last mission. Vokar then headed up to the bridge and reset the tactical station to a configuration better suited for him. He ran diagnostics finding everything in the green. Then Vokar had one of his tactical officers man the station scanning the surrounding space while he went to sickbay for a physical check up. 74 ** "Pain Management" part 2: Dr. Hutcherson and Dr. Vosen talk over Lt. Waters' problem (drug addiction and pain). A nurse, Sandra Cohen, joins in the discussion. Options come up, one being for Waters to apply for a Starfleet Medical drug-rehab program. The final decision is made to transfer him from the Vindicator to SB22 for treatment, to 'free' Waters off the ship to avoid the crew's next mission. 75 ** "The Morning Drag" parts 1 LCpl. Joran Tryn walks into the ship's crew lounge to find Dr. Hutcherson working. After ordering his breakfast, the Marine chats with the resident doctor, one of the topics revolving around why Hutcherson chose to participate in Marine programs despite being a physician. 76 ** "The Morning Drag" parts 2 Tryn offers Hutcherson a physical, marksman and MOUT training session. The doctor reflects on his previous training with SFI's Capital Control program. He accepts the offer, and the Marine finishes breakfast to head off. Hutcherson gets a page on an arresting patient at the Med/Surg ward. 77 The Iron-heal lands on Desolation Colony at the edge of federation space and Vertos the bounty hunter exits his ship and bribes a local port master and heads to a bar and sees a Ferenge. He tells the ferenge that he needs information on the Vanguard but the ferenge says he can't give it. Vertos insists with a count down. The ferenge finally feels that Vertos will kill him so he gives in and tells Vertos that they have an under cover recruiting station on Vagrant Street. It is a small general store. Vertos lets the ferenge go and walks to Vagrant street overhearing the ferenge telling them that he is coming from a small plant Vertos left under the ferenge's table. Vertos enters the closed Harris General Store and scans from his helmet for the computer data system. He finds it and downloads the data then his sensors pick up that he has plenty of armed company. 78 Staff Sergeant Joeleco 283 finally got two new uniforms from the quarter master and the NCO quarters were similar to a Junior officers quarters with a living room and sofa. Joeleco 283 checked messages and found that the marines had been training very heavy but this was likely do to the declared hostilities. On the holodeck Joeleco 283 watched the private try to take on Lt Prescott in unarmed combat. After the match Joeleco 283 told the marine he was lucky the enemy would not have been so kind. Joeleco 283 told the platoon that if any more of this stuff occurs they would be dealing with Joeleco 283 next time. 79 Lance Corporal Joran Tryn was taking the platoon to a training session when as the platoon went down a corridor Tryn saw a Staff Sergeant dressed in parade greens passing by. Tryn stopped the platoon and checked with the Sergeant since he had not seen him before. Tryn introduced himself and the Sergeant replied that he was Staff Sergeant Joeleco 283 the new 1 st platoon Sergeant for the marine detachment on Vindicator. Staff Sergeant Joeleco 283 recognized the person he was talking to as Lance Corporal Joran Tryn. Tryn liked that he figured this Sergeant knew his stuff or at least was up to date.
