We did it! UCIP has seen fit to award the Bergen to the Vindicator! The Bergen is the highest award available to a sim in UCIP and I am extraordinarily proud of each and every one of you that stuck with this sim and helped us toward that goal. Likewise, our very own XO, Cmdr Dex'el, has been given the highest award in UCIP, the Golden Nebula, for his own contributions and loyalty to the Vindicator. Receiving the Bergen is the greatest honor that I could hope to achieve as CO of the Vindicator and I hope that we are awarded it again when the award process begins again. In the meantime, this week we will head to the Hanton system to try to determine what information the Vanguard gathered with the sabotaged sensor array. Until next week: Captain Thompson ___________________________________________________________________ | W E E K I N R E V I E W | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ {{after 2 am Monday morning start log 64}} Lt Carson headed for engineering and when he got there felt the was a minor irregularity in the hum of the warp core. He checked the data board but was distracted by a scratching sound. He approached a near by Jeffries tube and stopped at the access door and listened. Yes there was something behind the door scratching to no end. Dan tried his tricorder but found significant interference that he was only able to determine that a life form existed behind the door. Dan left engineer and ran into a security officer. He ordered him to follow him back to the Jeffries tube with phaser on stun because of the detected life form. Dan opened the hatch and a furry animal scurried out amongst the startled engineers. it was to fast to directly but Dan dropped a cage on the animal trapping it. The security officer told Lt Carson he now had a pet. *** Dr. Matt Hutcherson makes his way to the XO's office, meeting up with Dex to make sure his name's on the roster list. Dex confirms this, and offers Matt a seat, and the two chat over a few things. Dex describes a few of his Sickbay experiences, and asks Matt a few questions (whether he's settled in, how he feels about 'sneaking around on strange worlds and observing wild cultures', etc.). Matt is welcomed again, and leaves the office in order to report to the CMO. Cmdr Dex reported to the Commodore's ready room and buzzed the door Como Thompson told him to enter and Dex gave him his report. Everything was in in the green but waste management which would not be completely back in until after 0400. They had received 43 new crew of which 3 were officers. The stores were topped off and departure could be set at 0900. Dex was also finishing paperwork such as the promotion of SSarg Redding which he had just completed. Actually Dex wanted to know something about the mission. Commodore Thompson handed Cmdr Dex the pad. It appeared that the array had been sending information to a subspace relay aimed at the Hanton system. Commodore Acheson had ordered The Vindicator to investigate the system. Vanguard activity was suspected. The Vindi was to sneak in pretending to be a cargo vessel. Cmdr Dex felt they could leave in 45 minutes and told the the Commodore that the Ctac was running his people through drills and that he would be initiating one with engineering and operation. Cmdr Dex would like to have that auto shut down code removed and was going to talk the Csci and Operations about it with the Commodores permission. Lt Vance due to some worry decided to take the day and have his wife's prenatal check run. He turned the labs operation temporarily over to his Science Mate Warrant Officer Jones. James took his wife Erin down to the Med Bay. Erin saw a tech and asked to have the check run. She was turned over to the CMO Lt Zach Rhodes. Dr. Rhodes graciously Checked Lt Kryton and found that both she and the baby were in excellent health. Doctor Rhodes was puzzled by something which Erin quickly cleared up. Since she was Sebacian the women were physiologically the same as humans but the gestation process had been genetically enhanced and was 4 times shorter. So Erin was at a 4 months pregnant stage which made it easier for Dr. Rhodes. He just wanted her to take it easy and less strenuous from her on. In light of that Lt Vance put her on the light duty roster. *** Matt Hutcherson walks into Sickbay and takes a look around. He observes the place for a while before one of the officers approach him. Dr. Zach Rhodes, CMO, greets the new arrival. Matt requests for a copy of Sickbay's shift schedules, so he could better arrange his time on his residency holo-simulation and getting on duty at Sickbay. The two doctors meet briefly, and soon Matt leaves Sickbay to get some other work done, loose ends after settling onboard the Vindicator. Zach also returns to his office work. Lt Bishop looked around only Mark and Soral remained as original computer operations techs the rest were new. They were checking all the systems and subsystems to make sure everything was ok . Lt Bishop didn't want another occurrence of that virus showing up and the Vindicator going down as they left SB 22. Auryn was checking the diagnostic report from section 3-5 deck 6 and was having a hard time focusing. He had been on a holodeck date with ensign Dani and finished at 0200 but had to be on duty at 0630. Auryn was a little tired and focusing was difficult. Soral noticed and offered to relieve Auryn for a period so he might rest and get a bite to eat. Auryn appreciated Soral for that and took him up on the offer. Commodore Thompson finished looking at his reports in the ready room. Engineering was ready and the Vindicator was back to full operational status. Thompson went to the bridge and sat in the command chair. He ordered the operations officer to drop the umbilical and helm to leave at 1/4 impulse. Once clear of SB 22 Commodore Thompson ordered the course set to the Hanton system and the warp engines engaged at warp factor 6. Thompson then hit his COM and asked Lt Reid to prepare a security plan to allow boarding Vanguard occupied facilities and to practice it. Thompson then turned to Tactical and asked them to contact SB 22 and make sure that Vindicators registry database was up to date in order that the Vindicator does not mistake an old ship from one currently commissioned. Thompson then contacted the Csci and asked him to recalibrate the lateral sensor array incase the Vindicator had to engage the Vanguard. Finally Thompson contacted engineering due to feeling turbulence to make sure the torque sensors were in alignment. *** One of the nurses at Sickbay gives Hutcherson a quick tour of the place. We learn about the doctor's specific role as a specialist among a majority of GMO's (general medical officers) onboard. We also get a few details on how current medical monitoring technologies work. At the end of the tour, Matt reminds himself of his night shift later on, and thinks about the day-shift he'll be taking with his residency holo-simulation. Lt Vance acknowledged Commodore Thompson's orders and ran the diagnostics on the lateral sensor array and found a weak modulator and replaced it. He also recalibrated the array as requested. In lieu of the coming situation he also had Science Mate Jones recalibrate the computer control and the mark 8 probes to use as triangulation satellites in case the arrays were hit or damaged. Lt Vance also realigned the lab bridge data transfer, calibration and diagnostics on the bridge science station. Lt Vance then had a team assembled to batten down the bio, bio-containment labs and the arboretum. This headed by Lt Kryton with MS Jones as her aid. Lt Vance restricted Lt Kryton to light duty as supervisory only due to doctors orders. Finally Lt Vance brought a crew up to main sensor control leaving it active. Lt Kryton received the orders and started battening down the bio labs and the arboretum. SM Jones came up to help with his crew. At first Erin was a little perturbed with Jones's orders to restrict her to light supervisory work. Especially when Jones insisted. But then she had a big laugh about it realizing she was acting like a kid and that it was really for the well being of her baby. She happily complied and Erin and Jones got the task easily done together. Even with that Erin was very tired at the end of her shift and wanted to go to quarters hoping that James had been relieved and was there now. Sorel thought the main reason that Lt Bishop had come down to the computer core was to get a feeling of hands on work rather than being a console jockey. Most Vulcans found this type of human behavior illogical but Sorel looked at it as a means of predicting certain moods and interactions which he found extremely useful at times. A subtitle word here and there would allow him to direct how crewmates would react. Many found Sorel stand-offish but Sorel did react more with Petty Officer Kacey Williams, fellow Specialist Tomer Walters, and Technician Mark Daniels. This was to improve their performance to their superior officer Lt Bishop. Now all had been transferred leaving Sorel as the able and trusted assistant. Lt Bishop being human it was a simple matter to exploit the lieutenant's tired state to suggest that he take a break leaving Sorel with access to the core data. Sorel found small flaws and cracks in the data that could be problems if pushed. He now new where they were and if a problem became serious he could claim being a mere specialist he shouldn't have been left in charge leaving Lt Bishop holding the bag. *** Matt Hutcherson runs a holo-simulation session of his residency training at the Holodeck. We meet Dr. Shaun Hurley (2nd year E.R. resident at VGH), who went to med school with Matt. He brings up a 15 year-old patient named Ryan with a heart rhythm problem to the ICU, transferring care to Matt's department. A cardiologist will arrive soon to discuss the case with them. Matt asks how the 'real' Ryan is doing at the 'real' Vancouver General Hospital. Although not supposed to provide such info, Shaun tells Matt that the kid's doing fine, ready for discharge soon. Commodore Thompson reported into the medical bay for a standard physical required on command personal by Commodore Acheson. He stopped with the nurse whom politely showed him to a biobed and informed The CMO Lt Rhodes. Rhodes came out and checked the Commodore and found him in perfect health and then asked him if he had any aches or pains. Thompson answered yes he did in his wrist when he used the computer console for extended periods of time. Zach checked his wrist and found a fracture and used a knitting tool to repair it. Commodore Thompson felt he had used proper ergonomic procedures and should not be having this problem and Lt Rhodes asked if he had encountered any other stress conditions such as in the holodeck. Thompson thought but decided no and concluded he had to be more careful sending messages in the future. Thompson related to the CMO to be prepared for casualties being sent to the med bay since Thompson expected to engage the Vanguard. Lt Rhodes said he would be ready. ** LTJG. Dan Carson, the ship's Chief Tactical Officer, walks into Sickbay for an evening physical checkup. The doctor that just started his night shift turns out to be Matt Hutcherson, who is waken by a nurse as he tries to get some sleep in the on-call room. Matt walks out and does a thorough H&P of Carson, chatting with the new CTAC about their new experiences onboard the Vindicator. We get to know a little more about Carson's background, and how he is allergic to cat fur. Dr. Hutcherson is at his quarters, working at his small office desk on an ScD research paper. His focus gradually shifts to searching the ship's computer for any useful intelligence. He starts with the shallow work, testing the computer to see if it could provide him normally restricted data. After getting a list of crew members onboard, Matt manages to gain access to everyone's Starfleet records/biographies... ** ***=[ OOC-> Thank you Ray for your summaries: IC-> Ens Matthew Hutchison] LtJG Reid ordered patrols of the Vindicator to check for intruders or stowaways before requesting the use of the security office. He received Thompson's call to prepare to board hostile facilities and secured two holodecks to practice with the Vindicator's own SWAT team.
