The Vindicator had yet another solid week of logging. Our very own Deputy Fleet CO has been elected as the new Trek Operations commander, so the Vindicator wishes to proudly congratulate Frankie. Now all that remains to be seen is who will become our new Fleet CO. This week, we will be getting underway and heading off to the next mission. Until next week: Captain Thompson ___________________________________________________________________ | W E E K I N R E V I E W | ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ *** Dr. Matt Hutcherson randomly enters a conference room, and turns out it was a joint medical conference between the RCPC and Starfleet Medical. Walking in, Matt realizes the main lectures have already been given out, and was about to leave when an old friend recognizes him and gives the doctor a shout. The man's name is Chase, a Marine medic Matt used to work with during his Academy post-grad SEC/SFMC urban-ops military program. The two exchanges a few questions, and Matt tells his friend how he is already homesick. Chase voices his own opinion - although space may hold many wonders, it is also a dangerous place out there. Someone on the comm calls for Matt Hutcherson, telling him that he has a message waiting at the reception area. Matt says a brief 'bye' to his friend, and leaves - he has a feeling he knows who's summoning him. Captain Thompson decided to let Cmdr Dex handle the engineering situation. He felt it would be a good test for Cmdr Dex to see if he measured up and the Captain didn't actually want to go down twenty decks. Lt Stadi called telling the Captain that they had activated the warp using the shuttles sensor telemetry. The Captain was pleased and asked Lt Stadi to contact Beta Fleet Command. They succeeded using the shuttles communication equipment. The Captain was put in touch with Commodore Acheson. The Captain told Acheson that the shields and weapons were off line and they were experiencing engine trouble. The ship was heading in to Star Base 22. The commodore told the Captain to send his coordinates to Beta command using encryption protocol Beta 61 and that the USS-Maximus was being sent to ferry them in. The Vindicator dropped out of warp several hundred kilometers from the Star base. The USS-Maximus then tractored the Vindicator into space doc. The umbilicals were not activated to prevent contamination of the star base. Lt Vance ordered some cots brought up for resting in the science lab since the crew had been at the decoding for some time. The code pulled from the data obtained from the array device had a secondary shut down sequence in it that was not decoding correctly. Lt Vance made Erin rest because she had been at it for to long time and she needed it because of the baby. Lt Vance continued Erin's work and found that code was familiar to something he had worked with years ago and it was only in the old archives. The computer found the code to be turbo Pascal 3 and ancient code. Lt Vance ran the scanned code though this format and the code decoded onto the screen. Lt Vance finally cracked the code it gave everything the entire shut down sequence. He had the computer compile a report on the data and a program compiled too change this shut down code into a start up sequence code. The code results was to be sent to Lt Bishop to determine the order of start up they wanted and compile it into the program and resend overwriting the old program. Erin awoke and saw how tired her husband was and she ordered him to sleep. Lt Vance updated Erin and she put his head on her lap next to the baby as she expected the babies hart beat put Lt Vance to sleep. Erin then went Back to the consol to complete her work with MS Jones keeping an eye on her since she was pregnant. Cmdr Dex watched the operation and over saw the best he could but they were working in unknown territory and he basically wanted to make sure it didn't wind up in a big BOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM. Dex had some trouble during this time with his pet Vole. The Vole kept trying to get his COCO and Dex had to go back to the replicator a number of times to refill his COCO. Lt Stadi finally got the system up and the warp drive active supplying enough plasma for warp 5. He felt it would simply work or it wouldn't. Lt Stadi patched communications to the bridge from the shuttle and used the shuttles communications to contact Beta fleet. Thanks to Lt Dudas's algorithms they were able to get the Vindicator under way. Lt Stadi wanted to wipe the core and reboot as soon as they were docked. *** Starfleet Intelligence officer Reese Voyer (NPC) discusses his 'new agent' - Dr. Hutcherson - at SB22's SFI Regional Operations Center. Also present was the Deputy Director of Starfleet Central Intelligence, and three other SFI executives. Reece explains Hutcherson's ability to blend perfectly within the Vindicator's crew environment, and the minimal chance of him being detected by the Vanguard spy onboard (if there is one at all). The DDSCI and executives are surprised that Voyer knows of SFI's suspicion of a Vanguard individual on the Vindicator, something he wasn't supposed to know. The only other piece of information we learn is of the SFI training program Hutcherson went through years ago. Its agents are currently on the first round of assignment trials. The program is code-named "Capital Control". *** Matt Hutcherson walks into Starbase 22's SFI Regional Operations Center. He enters a conference room, the one where Reese Voyer (NPC) had the discussion earlier in Part 1. Matt knows he has an SFI operation ahead of him, but of course as a simple agent, does not have all the details. At first he is told that his assignment is to pick out any suspicious personnel on the Vindicator, possibly a Vanguard spy. Matt gets confused with the protective secrecy among his SFI superiors, and bluntly asks what it is they want him to do. Reese Voyer explains to Matt that he is 'to be an AMO'. We do not know what this 'double job' means, and it seems that Matt himself is confused (although as a sly operative, he might know exactly what to do). Matt leaves the Operations Center, claiming he does not work for SFI anymore, although that's exactly what the SFI executives want to hear. Captain Thompson beamed over to SB 22 and went to Commodore Acheson's office and stopped at the entry. The captain was a bit apprehensive due to the Vindicator coming back to SB 22 without power. Thompson went and meet the Commodore. Acheson wanted to know why the Vindicator had been shut down. Thompson explained that they had corrected the problem with the array and removed the threat of a ferrenge trade effort with the Krivaldi over moycerite. But the Vindicator had gone down on the way back to SB 22 under warp. The cause wasn't known but a virus was suspected. Acheson ordered Thompson to find out where the virus came from and who programmed it. Acheson told Thompson that this virus didn't come out of now where. Acheson also told Thompson that the USS-Zeus did check the target location the array was pointed at. They found a subspace transmitter aimed at the Hanton system. The Vindicators next mission will be to check that system for vanguard activity. On the SB22 holosuite, Commodore Thompson conducted a promotion ceremony, where several crewmembers on the Vindicator were promoted and awarded. Cmdr Dex'el, Lt Stadi, Lt Dudas, Lt Vance, LtJG Bishop and Sorel all collaberated to reboot the Vindicator's infected computer system in order to purge the virus.
