He then removed his jacket coat dust flying and placed it on the floor followed by his boots. Redding then filed his after action report. The platoon under Major Perkins had boarded the Array in the Qualor system without incident and found only a population of Voles which were transported to the Vindicator. The mission was a success since no marines were injured. Completing the report Redding then fell asleep in his bunk. Captain Thompson returned to his quarters and checked the quarters out thoroughly since Voles had been found loose. He checked all points of entry by site and tricorder. Satisfied there were no Voles he turned out the lights and retired. After 4 hours the Captain was awakened finding the Vindicator was stationary in space and the power was out. In the pitch black Thompson finally got his close on and found a star fleet light source and his phasor and went to the door. The door would not work so he had to manually open it coming out into the corridor finding the same situation. The Captain had to find a way to get to the bridge. Lt Dal Dudas finally had a chance to look at his quarters and was glade it had a replicator and ordered his favorite coffee. Dal looked around and found he had more closet space. He could hardly wait to meet the CEO and hoped the CEO was a lady. From the XO's statement of the ship being 95% complete Dal was sure the ship was relatively new. In any case since the ship was heading for SB 22 Dal felt sure he would have some nice times in the hangouts there. Lt Vance received the device from Lt Bishop. He removed the case and placed the little unit in a test facility and scanned the circuits with Lt Kryton. They determined that the unit was indeed a combination of components from the Federation, Romulans , Klingons, and Cardassians. The unit was a low frequency subspace transmitter at a wave length of 10 microns. Lt Kryton was able to find a primer and the unit was decoded. The interesting thing about the little unit was the ability of it to analyze everything and the work it could put out with such a tiny processor was very interesting and worth further study by SB 22. A report was filed with the CO and XO. Lt Vance and Lt Kryton then left for their quarters. Auryn was used to sudden jolts being from Sanfransisco Ca with the fault lines and tremors. But the stop, rolled him out of bed and a little dazed Auryn checked the stars and found them stationary and that the Vindicator was out of warp. The power was out and it was dark so Auryn worked at getting his wrist light, cloths and phasor and belt together. He got his tools and manually opened the door and found that the problem was the same in the corridors. The turbo lifts were out and Auryn decided to take the Jeffries tube to get to the bridge after he found the COMs were out. Doctor Hutcherson pondered about past events flashing through his mind, hospital records and Vancouver hospital. He then drifted to a coffee house. The doctor was going in to see Star Fleet Intelligence and thought of the dominion war and the Vanguard. He was handed a disturbing report on a patient suggesting he was Vanguard. A person that must be dealt with. Lt Vance and his wife Lt Kryton had a nice evening at home. They had supper, read, and snuggled. They showered and headed to bed. James was proud of his wife's pregnancy. They slept for about four hours and were awakened to the Vindicator coming to a grinding halt. They dressed and James tried to make it to the lab while Erin checked for traces of a virus or worm that might have showed up in a peace of equipment they been testing from the Array. Dr. Hutcherson was awakened by a nurse at Vancouver General Hospital a patient had a sudden drop in O2 saturation and he was awaken somewhat before his watch but didn't want to awaken the senior resident as long as he could handle the problem. He checked the patients vitals on the padd and went on in to look at the patient. Dr. Hutcherson checked a number of things but finally focused on the branches of each lung: Bilateral airspace infiltrates. He decided it was time to consider the next level of treatment: "Notify RT. We might start him on Tri-Ox therapy. Keep him on A/C 15, tidal volume 750. FIO2 100%, increase PEEP to 10. Do a blood gas." At this point the senior resident was called and Dr. Hutcherson went back to the gurney to try and catch some more sleep. Dr. Hutcherson decided to go out and get something to eat at a Star Bucks Coffee house and came in to find and old friend there a hologram named Karla and chatted with her for a bit. Then noticed that his operative Reese was sitting in the back. Dr. Hutcherson was a little upset by the unscheduled visit but since he was also a Star fleet intelligence office under cover as a doctor completing his residency he finished his chat with Karla and went over and sat down with Reese. Reese told Dr. Hutcherson that he had a new more high level assignment. It was believed the Vanguard had infiltrated beta fleet and Dr. Hutcherson was being reassigned to the USS-Vindicator coming shortly into SB 22. Dr. Hutcherson would be placed on the Vindicator under the cover of a medical officer as a sleeper agent to look for and find a Vanguard operative on board the Vindicator. Dr. Hutcherson was a little apprehensive about it due to his residency but Reese told him he could finish on the Vindicator. Reese said there may not be a Vanguard operative on board but the threat was to great and the assignment was necessary and he wanted to know if Dr. Hutcherson would accept the assignment. Dr. Hutcherson told him he would think about it. Operations specialist Sorel was monitoring in the core access when the consoles started to flicker and then the data streams started shutting down. Systems went down one by one, one after the other and it reminded him of the domino effect as they went down. Some of the systems due to backup redundancy returned but ultimately some of them also failed. Sorel just watched and it reminded him of something he had heard of before but he decided to treat it as an unknown problem. His monitors and the lighting had shut down. Sorel got his wrist light and checked the system with his tricorder and found the power was completely down. He decided to reactive his consoles by supplying emergency power from the main core back up batteries and opened the floor hatch and proceeded down into the darkness. Lt Zach Rhodes had to attend to a neo natal exam on a Lt Helen and did a fine job despite his misgivings. He mused on the fact that the Captain had given him the temporary assignment of CMO and that he had become settled in and used to his responsibilities and even now had friends in the med department. Zach finished noting Helen's file and began to enjoy his tea when a young man came in with an apparent broken arm. Lt Rhodes felt that it will never be boring in the med bay. There is always something happening here. Cmdr Dex hung from the bottom of a turbo lift in the dark shaft and contemplated the circumstance as to how he got the Vole shitting on his shoulders. The attempt to catch the Vole in the secondary engineering computer core, Lt Vance giving him the Vole and finding it loved Dex's COCO better than chips. Dex took the Vole because he knew Erin would be awfully devastated if something happened to the Lieutenant especially with her expecting. The Vole Jumped to the hatch of a Jeffries tube access point and then Dex followed suit but missed and fell to the bottom near a left turn in the shaft. Dex held on and the Vole jumped down on his shoulder looking at Dex. Dex found the rung and climbed back up the shaft with the Vole to hit his head on the bottom of the lift and fall again to the shaft floor with the Vole. Dr. Hutcherson had been placed in Dr. Battelle's group by his chief resident Dr. Edwards and it was near the end of a shift. Dr. Hutcherson had been on since 7:00 am the previous day. It was near 6:15 PM on Friday afternoon and Dr. Battelle asks Hutcherson a question. "So, Hutcherson - let's hear the side effects of Naloxone." well Dr. Hutcherson is a little upset and tired and finally tries to answer the question after some frustration. He answers as follows: "Reverses vent depression and analgesia," I began. "Which gives a surge of catecholamines leading to hypertension, pulmonary edema, tachycardia and arrhythmias..." Dr. Battelle looks at him and wants more. Dr. Hutcherson answers: "Uh, nausea and vomiting" and Dr Battelle nodes and shoots a second question at Dr. Hutcherson. "And why does Fentanyl have a shorter onset but longer half-life than Morphine?" and Dr. Hutcherson groping for and answer comes up with the following: "Rapid absorption due to high lipid solubility...". Dr Battelle ignored Dr. Hutcherson's answer and continued the rounds. Finally the senior resident, Dr. Menzo, decides to finish up the presenting to the attending and Dr. Hutcherson finishes his 30 minutes of rounds and leaves the ICU off the hook for a bit. Ens Reid finished his report from the holodeck and proceeded to the hanger bay to supervise the TNT application and watched the explosion through the force field. He then checked to see if the ship was scanned for a temporal anomaly and found that it had been. He used the ships data to insure that a temporal fraction could not be accidentally opened and headed back to his quarters to lay down. Reid felt something was wrong and contacted the ops station and was told that the ship was dead in space. Reid checked for the Csec and found he wasn't aboard and assumed command of security.
