This week has seen some very creative and interesting logs, as you all tried to deal with this problem. Dudas saw the XO come with his hot COCO. Cmdr Dex briefed Lt Dudas on the assistant engineering position and they both went to engineering where Dex gave Lt Dudas some advice. Never let your guard down. But she is a good ship. Cmdr Dex then introduced Lt Dudas to EMCM Smith simply called Smitty. Erin Kryton got up and left early for the bio containment Lab worried about the stunned Vole. Erin found that the Voles favorite food was metal and electronic circuits. She then found that a nest of baby Vole had been placed in a wire cage and left without a containment field. The Vole had eaten through the cage and were loose. Erin was mad and Ens Reed came to her aid who told Erin that was the work of Ens Erica Field. Erin sent Ens Field to Lt Vance's office and had Ens Reed looking for the babies while Erin went back to the main Lab to write a report. Lt Vance came into the lab and was informed of the Vole release by Ens Erica field and that she had been sent to his office by his wife Erin. Lt Vance remembered a similar electronic decoy they had made a year ago for another problem. Lt Vance told Science Mate Jones to get the decoys and reduce the stun charge to a suitable level for Voles and place the decoys in the main three labs. Vance asked Jones to shut down the electronics so that the Voles would go for the decoys. The Vance asked Jones to modify the sensor net so that the Voles could be tracked. Lt Vance returned to the office and looked at Erica's record. He found it clean to up to the incident and that she was fresh out of academy. Lt Vance gave Erica a stern warning and required that she apologize To Erin for her actions and that Erica's training would be under Lt Kryton until Lt Kryton was satisfied of Erica's competence. Cmdr Dex checked into the Bio containment Lab and found Erin there where she informed him of the loose baby Voles. Lt Vance came into the BCL and told Cmdr Dex he was aware of the problem and had taken steps to solve the problem which were being put in place. Lt Vance added Cmdr Dex's idea of the audio scan to the sensor net. Cmdr Dex approved the plan and Erin Kryton then left for the Arboretum. Captain Thompson was informed of the problem with the loose baby Voles and asked Cmdr Dex to look into it. Captain Thompson checked with Ens Reid and was assured that they were ready to detonate the Ferenge ship. Thompson ordered the detonation of the Ferenge ship and the ship was vaporized with no apparent problems. Captain Thompson ordered the Vindicator back to the asteroid field and the fighters back to the landing bay. Captain Thompson then ordered Lt Vance to check the detonation area for any time ripples. Lt Vance received the order from Captain Thompson and set the stellar cartography system to maximum resolution and the coordinates of the Ferenge detonation and scanned for the standard components plus Tachyon background and Croniton particles as an overlay graph of the area from which the time ripple effect was plotted on the graph as a function of positional location. The results indicated the residuals were below the limits of the resolution indicating nothing significant had occurred. A report was sent to the Captain and Lt Vance returned to his quarters to spend time with his wife. Cmdr Dex left the bridge to handle the Vole round up but first stopped at the quartermasters office and obtained some protection gear. Vole were capable of rendering a nasty bite. The gear consisted of a cowboy outfit, with chaps, spurs, and a branding iron made in a circle with a V in the center. Dex walked out of the quarter masters office in this outfit with everybody trying to keep a strait face. Cmdr Dex arrived in engineering and Lt Dudas couldn't keep a strait face either. Cmdr Dex and Lt Dudas headed for the bio containment lab finding Lt Vance overseeing the tracking and containment of the little varmints. Two of the baby Voles went for the decoys and were stunned in the instrument lab and brought back and properly contained. It was determined that the third Vole was not in any of the three science labs and was now in the main engineering secondary computer core. Lt Dudas was informed of the unwanted visitor and Cmdr Dex was off to track the little varmint down. Lt Dudas climbed through the Jeffries to tube and reached the secondary computer core and pulled his phasor set on stun waiting for Lt Vance or Cowboy Dex to do something about the Vole baby. Lt Dudas didn't particularly want to tangle with a five foot rat. Lt Vance got himself a cup of Dex's famous 144 hot COCO and decided to go down to Engineering and watch Cmdr Dex in his Cowboy outfit catch the little Vole. Lt Vance arrived in the secondary computer core room to find Lt Dudas and Cmdr Dex setting up to catch the Vole. Lt Vance uncapped his COCO and sipped it waiting to see what would happen next. Cmdr Dex sized up the Vole and went for it but it eluded him. The next thing that occurred was the Vole raced across the floor and jumped on the sitting Lt Vance's arm and started sipping the COCO. Lt Vance slowly got up and walked over to Cmdr Dex and gave him the mug of COCO. The Vole jumped on Cmdr Dex's arm and started sipping the COCO. With the Vole in charge Lt Vance informed Lt Kryton of the new food source. Bishop, Lavery, and McNeill returned to the shuttle last after Major Perkins and the marines. All systems were up and running and as soon as the shuttle was several hundred meters away the Array would return to it's normal coordinates. Stadi was informed by Bishop that a small circular transparent device with green glowing circuitry was recovered. Stadi checked it with a tricoder and determined that it was a subspace transmitter and was composed of several different technologies. Stadi believed it was low frequency subspace due to the low power. They decided to have the Vindicator Science team look at the device to see if they could tell them more. Ens Vaga wait for the order for the Vindicator to eject the ferenge ship and pondered his promotion feeling it changed little at the present time. The order came and the ferenge ship was launched into space. Vega raised his shields and monitored status as the ferenge vessel exploded. Vega dropped his shields and checked diagnostics finding everything intact. The order came from the vindicator to dock the fighters and the Squadron Commander initiated the move and Vega brought his fighter back into the bay. He landed on antigrav pads and shut down the system. Adam turned in his flight report and headed for some R and R. Seeing that the mission was complete, Captain Thompson orders the Vindicator to proceed to SB22 at Warp 7, confident that the mission had been a success. Lieutenant Stadi and the away team returned to the Vindicator. Stadi reported that the sensor array had been reprogrammed to transmit to what seemed like an unpopulated system. Vanguard involvement was suspected. Major Perkins returned to the ship and ordered the marines to prepare a mission report for him. When LtJG Bishop tried to rest in his quarters, a vole attacked, mercilessly devouring his dinner.
