The Selay live on the planet Beta Rena, in the Beta Rennar system. The Selay are locked in an eternal struggle with a co-inhabitor of the Beta Rennar System, called the Anticans, who live on Antica.
SELAY SPECIES OVERVIEW
![]() |
The Selay are a repitilian species that look very familiar to the King Cobra species of Earth. Similar to snakes of earth, the Selay are know for their inobtrusive persona and their deadly poison they can spit and inject into an enemy. The Selay are a spiritulistic culture, who believe in multiple gods. The religious sect is led by the priests and the Grand Sieschskeel (ultimate leader of the religious sect). They have spent more than 1200 years in a battle for domination within their own solar system against the Antican's on the 6th planet of Antica. The Selay are led by a single leader which is picked as the title of SSeSSSak (King). The currently leader of the Selay is SSesssak Sskess. |
SELAY PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
The Selay stand on average 6 foot in height, with two small tendrals on their sides with four digits on the end of each that are used for manipulating objects. The Selay have no legs, using a strong pretensile tail and an exceptionally strong spine, the Selay can curl up in ball or stand upright up to 9 feet. For the sake of looking less snakelike and more bipedalish, the Selay tend to remain upright and wrapped in robes. It would appear to a casual onlooker that the Selay were bipedal. The Selay have a hooded flap of skin on their necks that expands when the Selay feel strong emotion.
They species, like the snakes of Earth, have venomous poison sacs inside their jaws, which can be injected into a victim, through their powerful fangs or through their spit. They're gumline, have very small teeth grown into it, giving the Selay the ability to eat their own food, though they much prefer swallowing the food whole. Selay's fangs are hidden inside their gums, until they are needed.
The Selay are normally marked in unique patterns along their back. The patterns are genetic and are used to identify family members. Further, the skin is tough and very durable. It is exceedingly difficult to stab or puncture the skin, giving the Selay a natural form of armor on them. Once a year, the Selay go through a Hiiskit Cycle, which consists of the individual to shed the skin. This is usually a cycle that is very intimate and therefore only the Selay mate may be permitted to see.
Selay eyes are positioned in front of their heads but are oval in shape and bulb slightly out of their heads. This gives them the advantage of a wider range of vision, it also makes their eyes a considerably exposed weak spot. Selay's eyes are good, adequate to that of most species. However, the most important sense they have in their natural environment is not their site, but the vibration. They have no working ears and cannot hear by normal means. They're skin is hypersensitive to soundwaves and can intrepret the vibrations into sounds and communicate this way.
The Selay are broken down into several subcategories of Selay. Each subcategory has there own specialities. Though class is not weighed upon these days, nearly as much as the olden times, there is still evidence of class segmentation in the underlying society.
The Hissk are considered the faces of the Selay. They tend to be green, smooth and shiny in color. These Selay tend to hold positions of power like diplomats, councilmembers, etc.
The Marine Sslish are water and air breathers and cannot live inside and outside the oceans for more than a few minutes at a time without special breathing apparatus. These Selay are dark in complexion from below, while paler in color underneath, which comes from an inherant form of camoflauge.
The Hoskat are the strong warrior class of Selay. Larger in size and frame, stronger any other individual species member, these species are easily spotted with the brown and tan diamond patterns that run their back. These Selay are the warriors that choose combat and a life of solitude as opposed to family.
The Pestok class are considered a 'peasant' class. These are the breeders for which all other classes are spawned from. These Selay have a high reproduction rate, but are considerably smaller than the rest of the classes. These Selay handle the medial labor and are frequently in the positions of servitude.
The Monesskclass are the 'engineering' class of Selay. They're heads are considerably larger than the rest, they have a jet black color, smooth to the look, but not to the touch. These are the ones that the rest of the Selay depend on to develop the new weapons, ships, fighters, and technology. Though it was forbidden up to 20 years ago to teach any other class on engineering concepts and even basic reading, those laws were brought down and now any class can learn.
SELAY SOCIAL OVERVIEW
SELAY GOVERNMENTAL OVERVIEW
The Selay seat of power consists of three major divisions. The leaders of Beta Renna consists of a council of 12 members, 4 from each of the 3 continents. Of those 12, 1 leader is chosen to act as the single voice of the council. These members of the Selay Planetary council, are members for life. There is no term policy. Once a member of the council dies, a new member is voted in by the people in a special election. If the King dies, a new selection is made from the council and then a new councilmen is voted in from the Kings original place on the council. These twelve Selay are authorized to make any global policy, interstellar policy, trade agreements, and military decisions deemed necessary.
The council appoints division leaders to represent the various issues in the world. The divisions include Military, Religious and Economic among others. Each of these department leaders can step up and recommend policy changes and then are required to implement any decision of the council. Each of the 3 continents also have their own Continental Council which consists of 12 members that act on behalf of their own continent and can establish any policy they deem necessary and can only be overrided by the Planetary Council. Like the PC, they have representatives that inform the council of issues and implement the decisions. As a result, of this lean government, decisions are made relatively quickly, efficiently and effectively. The down side of a government such as this is the tendency to make ill-informed decisions without taking the time to really process all the information.
SELAY MILITARISTIC OVERVIEW
The Selay Military is divided into three divisions, the ground forces, the sea forces, and the star forces.
SELAY RELIGIOUS OVERVIEW
