Stardate 240209.13

Lieutenant Commander James M. Kirk sat in the captains chair on the
bridge, reading over a damage report from the previous battle. They had
taken moderate damage when the first torpedo had hit, but luckily it did not
cripple the Gemini. He thanked the Confederation Research and Development
teams for making the sovereign class ship so durable. He frowned when he
moved down to the medical reports, however. There were two dozen casualties
and around thirty-seven wounded. If only he
had reacted faster to the situation, that number might have been severely
decreased, or even completely.

He handed the PADD to a crewman whom was standing by his chair, eagerly
awaiting for his shift to end. Kirk could see that look in the crewman's
eyes. It was the way he felt...use to feel when he was a cadet. The way he
first felt when he was assigned to the Gemini as his first assignment to a
starship. It was stressful, meeting the expectations of his superior
officers, especially when he was the Chief Engineer. Always keeping the ship
together, even though he knew something bad was going to happen to wreck his
accomplishments doing so anyway...He could relate to the new Chief Engineer.
Though he was slightly annoyed that Starfleet assigned Cadets as most of the
senior staff...He still had faith in the new cadets though, knowing they
will do well.

Kirk shifted in his chair slightly...no, not his chair...he knew it
wasn't his chair, but there was something about it, that made him
comfortable sitting in that center seat...something...He awoke from his daze
as the arm console beeped. Looking it over, he typed a few commands into it
and then looked about the bridge. He knew it was very late, so he took one
last look out the viewscreen at the disabled USS Farragut, its hull was
battered. He smirked slightly at their victory, but his smirk slowly faded
as he let out a yawn, which he quickly suppressed. He stood from the chair
and headed towards the turbolift..The bridge was surprisingly empty, had he
ever been up that late on the bridge before? He didn't seem to care and
walked inside the turbolift, "Deck 8" He said, and the turbolift door closed
and it sped off.

After a short trip it came to a halt and opened on Deck 8. He walked
down the corridor to his quarters. He came upon a door labeled 811 and
walked in as it opened for him, closing behind him. It was a moderately
sized room, much bigger than the crew quarters but still smaller than the
captain's quarters. He made his way towards the bathroom and turned the
sonic shower on.

Ten minutes later, he emerged in sleeping attire. He walked over to
the desk at the opposite side of his quarters, and sat down in the chair.
There was a PADD on the desk and he picked it up to examine it. He zoned out
however, and though of the events that had taken place earlier..something
bothered him very much, but he was to tired to remember. No, no he wasn't,
the thought came back to him like a nightmare, It was his brother. How could
his own brother be in command of the same ship that he died trying to save,
he thought to himself. The fact that the ship had been decommissioned as
well, did not help solve the problem, either.

He used the PADD he was holding to access his brother's old Starfleet
records. Those to also said he had been Killed in Action...he stood up and
leaned against the bulkhead, staring out the window of his quarters towards
the Farragut, "What is this all about?" he wondered. He looked at his own
reflection in the window...wait...what? It wasn't his reflection, it was his
brothers, he jumped back and nearly fell over his own desk, startled. He
stood up and rubbed his eyes, his own reflection was back, he was relived.
He shook his head, "I need some sleep..." he said aloud, no one around to
hear him.

Suddenly, he remembered that he forgot to do his log. He walked over
to an interface on the wall of his quarters, "Computer, Begin Log."

=/\= The Computer Chirped =/\=

"Executive Officer's log, Stardate 240209.13...The Gemini was
recently in combat, with the USS Farragaut-C, a galaxy class starfleet
vessel that had been decommissioned, prior to the end of the Dominion War.
We have sustained moderate damage, and casualties, many wounded. We were
unprepared for the attack on our ship, but managed to disable the Farragut.
We plan to board the ship to see if we can find any information on the
reason for it's attack, as well as the reason for the attack on the USS
Sanford. I feel that if we do so, we may find who it is that is stealing
starfleet property...Computer End Log...Begin Personal Log."

=/\= The Computer Chirped =/\=

"James M. Kirk's personal log, Stardate 240209.13...I feel disturbed
at the recent appearance of my brother, whom has been dead since before the
Farragut C had been decommissioned. Though, something inside tells me that
it is not him...I know it isn't him..Though the experience of seeing him
again may be causing me to have hallucinations caused by own
emotions...Perhaps I should seek help from a counselor...Perhaps I should
wait until we have a counselor...Anyway, whatever has caused this recent
meeting of him has certainly disturbed me greatly...Computer End Log."

Kirk walked over to his bed, he was to tired to make a long and
detailed log. He knew he would have nightmares about his brother...be he
shrugged and slipped into his bed, "Computer lights off." The computer
chirped and the lights went off...
