Richard looked uneasily up from the computer console showing his new orders
from Gamma-Command and the Alien Representative. Right at this moment the
Saratoga and the Crazyhorse were in pursuit of another StarFleet vessel, the
USS Tarawa, which was believed to have the alien monolith onboard. He looked
at the last few lines, which read ASSIST PURSUIT IMMEDIATELY. He trusted
that the bold capital lettering was not a typo.
As if on cue the Alien Representative spoke up. "Well, Captain, I trust the
news is on a more 'positive' note than previous communications."
Richard looked at the reprehensive skeptically, good news for him,
definitely, but it was sad day for Starfleet, having a renegade ship was not
a common occurrence.
"We currently have two ships in pursuit of your technology, the situation
will be resolved shortly, we have been ordered to assist in the intercept."
Richard delivered the sentence in a monotone style, as to enunciate his
displeasure with the whole situation.
The representative nodded in his usual fashion and spoke in a slightly
different tone, one that seemed to contain more anger. "Our ships will be
allowed to accompany you to the 'Tarawa' of course." It seemed more like a
demand than a request.
Richard decided to be blunt his wishes, this time. "This is a Federation
ship that is being pursued in Federation territory, your vessel's will be
allowed to accompany the Gemini, but your weapons will not come online, and
this is not a suggestion or a request, it is a condition to your continued
presence in Federation territory."
The representative looked at him with a look of amazement and disgust, but
his expression folded slightly just before he spoke. "Very well."
he uttered in a whispered voice.
Richard nodded and tapped the comm button on his console. "Carpenter to the
Bridge."
In response a beep sounded and the XO's voice came over the comm. "Bridge
here."
Richard looked at his orders one more time and transmitted them to the
bridge command station. "Set a course for the supplied coordinates, we have a
piece of stolen technology to recover."
