Recently there has been a drive toward structuring improvements to the quality of service that UCIP provides its members and its SIMs within the senior staff. A big part of this is ensuring that we have the correct focus and aim what we are doing at the right level - the more work that *directly* helps the SIMs rather than extraneous issues, the better.
The first significant step in what I hope will be an ongoing series of organisational improvements to bring greater collaboration and higher output to the group concerns the RSE division.
RSE currently operates with one active SIM, the RIS Aylhr, and the divisional leadership has its sights set on building on this and improving the status of RSE SIMming within UCIP. However, it is accepted that the current structures are probably not the best for accomplishing this goal and the time spent running a division coupled with the lack of human resources within the division itself counts against its potential.
An agreement has been reached by the RSE Divisional Leadership and the UFP Divisional Leadership to integrate the current RSE Division into UFP's Beta Subfleet (the subfleet currently with IC jurisdiction over UFP's Romulan border). It is hoped that with this change the potential for support and development of RSE SIMming will increase to allow greater success for this genre.
Thus, effective immediately, the RSE is disbanded as a division and its SIM and personnel are transferred into UFP's Beta Fleet. The current division commander, Jast, will take on the role of Deputy Subfleet Commander and continue to hold responsibility for RSE SIMming within its new position in the group.
Jast will remain, until further notice, on the senior staff as Romulan Advisor (to allow a gradual process of change) but this will be a position that holds no voting rights except on issues directly related to RSE affairs. It is expected that when the new relationship with UFP is proven that the need for this position will be reduced and RSE will be fully represented through the UFP members of the senior staff.
I hope this will be the first of many steps towards greater collaboration between all areas of the group as I believe that it is only with unity of vision and goals that we can truly succeed as an organisation.
