Levels are no longer in use in the organisation or in the UFP Division, however, this policy is included for reference.   Rank Promotions within the Federation Division (Starfleet) will continue to consider both In Character and Out of Character merits for Rank Promotions: Maturity, Creativity, Plot Development, Simming abilities, CO abilities, Voluteerism, Working with Staffs, Guilds, etc...

Levels
Levels are considered when gaining postings outside SF and by allowing CO's to leave them on the backburner they will tick over quietly. This way if someone wishes to simply sim, level is irrelevant. However, if at some point someone decides that they would like to venture into other areas, then they can approach their CO who can then see about their level.

Please visit http://www.ucip.org/bylaws/promotion.html for more information on levels.

Level: Time Served: Requirements: Granted By: Send Reports To:
0 Received upon joining UCIP
1 3 Weeks Simguide Score 80% or Higher Sim CO Logistics
2 4 Months   Sim CO Logistics
3 8 Months Command Course IRC/Email Pass Division CO Logistics
4 12 Months 6 Months as a Sim CO CinC Senior Member Form
to Logistics
5 15 Months 8 Months as a
Division CO
CinC Senior Member Form
sent to Logistics

When you join UCIP you are automatically set to Level 0. This means that you are new to the group and have yet to completed the basic SIMGuide exam. If you think you may wish to be involved in the OOC operations of UCIP in the future, it may be a good idea to ask your CO to track your level progress to ensure that there are no complications in the future.

One thing that is very important to you as a member is tracking important dates such as completion of an academy course, (especially those listed in the above requirements), any awards you have been issued, and of course all promotions.

Sample Application of Policy

Level 1's, while not needing logistical confirmation, do need to be reported to Logistics for when the next level is requested. If the Commanding Officer does not track levels, the date of promotion to Ensign (or equivalent) will be used as a base to determine a level if the simmer requires one later on.

Example: Kortal joins UCIP on SD240304.25 and four weeks later (240305.23) is granted the rank of Ensign.

He happens to join a sim where the CO doesn't track levels for his crew. Six months down the road Kortal ends up wanting to be an Academy Instructor which requires a level 2 simmer for the position. In the database, Kortal is still listed as being a level 0 as the CO has not updated his status.

Times:

Cadet to Ensign: 4 weeks (Level 1)
Ens + 6 months [Lvl 2 = Lvl 1 + 4mths] so Kortal qualifies for Level 2.

One way CO's can include Level 1 and 2 elevations in their Sim reports is like this:

Character: Kortal
Position: Assist Engineer
Rank: Cadet --> Ensign
Level: 0 --> 1
Last Promotion Date: NA
Promotion/Level Effective: SD 240305.23
Comments: (explain why you feel the simmer has earned this level elevation and generally make them feel appreciated!

or

Cadet Kortal -> Ensign (+ level 0 -> 1) 240305.23
