A number of subfleet and division level awards were announced today by Jaeneva, leader of Beta Subfleet, for the efforts that her fleet's staff and SIMmers have been putting into the subfleet and the group.

The division would like to offer its thanks to those in Beta who have worked for these awards and hopes that the SIMulations of Beta Subfleet will continue in their growing success into the future.

Jaeneva made the following announcement...

Changes in Omega Fleet

Starfleet Security

This month has seen two big changes in the lineup of Omega Fleet, the United Federation of Planets' fleet devoted to the more secret side of Starfleet operations.

Firstly, a new email based SSF SIMulation has entered development, the Sovereign class USS Victory. Since the closure of USS Saratoga last year, Omega has been down to only one email based SSF SIMulation and the development of the Victory will hopefully fill the gap in demand that this left. The Victory is under the command of rik as Commander Marcus Refelian.

Secondly, on a sadder note, it was formally decided that the development SIMulation, Section 31 Red Union, would close due to a lack of interest and participation. It is a positive move for Omega and UFP to be able to do this as in recent years, unfortunately, the development SIM process has not been managed so responsively, leading to partially inactive SIMs remaining on our books. Closure of those developments that fail to perform adequately is good for all and allows us to focus on areas that might be more successful such as the USS Victory.

UFP Command would like to offer their thanks to Rufus who tried to establish Red Union and their best wishes to rik as he sets forth in establishing the Victory.

Services

Due to ongoing work to provide a better service in UCIP Academy it has been announced that it will be closing to new course applications for a short period of time from today. All courses apart from the basic SIMGuide course that new members must complete will not be running for around one month while essential changes are made to course documentation and structure.

Those who are already enrolled in Academy courses will be allowed to complete them but there will be no acceptance of new course applications until it is announced that the Academy has reopened. Academy Commandant, Donald, is confident that this will only take a short period of time and that the Academy will be open for business again in the next month.

If you have any questions you should see the Academy homepage at http://www.ucip.org/academy.

UFP Division Commander, Nira, has today announced a series of awards bestowed upon the SIMmers and staff of Beta Subfleet for their contribution to the betterment of the UFP Division. The full text of this announcement is below:

Getting Beta Subfleet to a point where a full subfleet plot can happen has taken a long time and has created great success within the SIMulations there. The aim now is to implement the type of IC development that we have seen work in Beta across the whole division and to support Beta to even greater success.

However, it must be recognised that Beta has continuously bettered itself over the last year to get to where it is now and I would like to thank those who have been involved in that.

Jaeneva, the Assistant Division Commander responsible for Beta subfleet has recently been unanimously confirmed into that role. She has been a driving force for the betterment of the subfleet and brings years of skills and experience to the job. She demonstrates what someone in her role should be in how she not only thinks about the status of her own subfleet but also wants to actively help those other staff who are less experienced than herself. To recognise this outstanding staff member, I would like to present her with the Special Ops Award, not specifically for her support of the divisional leadership but her support in making the division as a whole a better place.

Jae, however, has not worked alone. While now she only has one deputy, throughout the rebuilding of Beta there have been three people leading the way. I would like to recognise the other two, Frankie (her current deputy) and GalileoAce (former subfleet leader and former deputy), for their work and their support. Both shall be awarded the Special Ops Ribbon for their work in making UFP a better place to SIM.

Last, but not least, Beta, just like the rest of the division, cannot be successful without the support of the whole staff team and their skilful leadership of their SIMmers. Beta's SIMs have worked through many problems and come out the other side better off, better SIMs and more fully rounded from an IC point of view. For this achievement on both an IC and OOC basis I would like to award the staff body of Beta Subfleet (Subfleet leadership, COs, XOs and 2Os) as a whole the Fleet Unit Citation.

Congratulations to Beta Subfleet and may many others learn from their success. Looking over the work they are doing for their new plot may well be a good starting point to get involved :)

The RSE Division has this week seen a change of leadership with a new Division Commander announced by Regan today.

The former RSE Division Commander, Kang, who stepped down recently was recognised for his contribution to UCIP with a Golden Nebula award by the CinC.

The division's new leader is Li`thia Donatra who took up the reigns today.

UFP welcomes the new Division Commander of RSE and we look forward to much cooperation between our divisions in the future.
