Qo'noS is the home planet of the Klingon people. It is an M-class planet that is located in Klingon space in the Beta Quadrant. It is the first planet of the Klingon Empire and houses the leadership for the rest of the Empire's territory.

Historical

The Klingon Empire started out from the planet of Qo'noS. It houses the Klingon High Council which is the political authority in control of the Empire.

In 2293 the moon of Praxis, an important energy production facility for Qo'noS suffered partial destruction when an explosion occured on its surface. The explosion caused severe damage to the ozone layer of the planet and sparked planning to planetary evacuation. This event directly led to the signing of the Khitomer Accords.

By the mid 24th Century the planet had managed to recover from the damage of the destruction of Praxis as new technology allowed better clean up of the damage and it seemed that the original prognosis for the future of Qo'noS was over skeptical.

Geographical

The surface of Qo'noS includes a single large land mass and a vast ocean. In addition, the planet has a severely tilted axis which causes wild seasonal changes, a turbulent atmosphere, and extremes of both warm and frigid weather.
