Interactive Computer Operating System
Cutting edge holographic technology and advanced adaptive AI have merged to create UCIP`s first fully functional "Holo-Avatar" representation of the ships main computer core. Being utilized in various other ships across the fleet the ICOS is quickly becoming the standard in wide range computer Interface. The ICOS allows the crew to interface with the Computer in all aspects of its control functions. From: "<ICOS>, run an analysis on the adjacent Nebula" to "<ICOS>, preform a warp core lvl 4 diagnostic" The ICOS virtually eliminates the need to input tedious Console commands and lengthy algorithms. Up till now the ICOS was limited to 1 representation aboard the ship, usually assigned to the CO or main task handler at that time. The "ICOS" Holo-Avatar may be assigned a "name" and its physical parameters altered to be more pleasing and/or useful to any situation. The ICOS MKII allows for multiple representations at Multiple locations simultaneously (Limited to up to 3 at a time) and so you could have 1 on the Bridge, 1 in Engineering and 1 in Astrometrics/Science Labs". Utilizing the Latest in progressive data acquiring technologies and a highly evolved AI the ICOS is able to actively give suggestions to situations based on all previous Star Fleet encounters and theoretical scenarios that update in real time as the need arises, and preform prescribed tasks at predefined scenarios. In order to off set the potentially dangerous situation that may arise where a "Rouge" ICOS would take complete control of ships systems or gain consciousness, various algorithms have been embedded into its programming that do not allow the ICOS to run self determined protocols so in itself ICOS cannot decide to "override command controls" or "disable propulsion or enviormentals". Any Crew member with the correct command codes (CO, XO, Tac) may make changes to the ICOS. ICOS cannot override or block these changes. The ICOS cannot cause Physical harm to any Federation member (Star Fleet or Civilian). The CO may override this inhibitor at anytime in cases of extreme situations. Another Fail safe system is an Isolated disabling system designed to disable the ICOS instantly. ICOS has No access to this system and cannot override, block, or encrypt access to this system. Micro charges have been placed at key junctions in the ICOS`s circuitry that are manually detonated in case all else fails. The ICOS is fully integrated into all systems Main and Secondary in order to streamline ship wide operations. Although "old fashion commands" can be issued from any console on the ship if the ICOS is not available, disabled or simply not wanted. |
