Planet Valara, located in the New Eden system is a planet in the Gamma Quadrant which has recently come under the control of the Confederation through the noble actions of the USS-Magellan. New Eden is located 5 light years from the Worm Hole in the opposite direction of the Omarion Nebula. The inhabitants of Valara call themselves the Ka'Leigh.


Valara is a planet just slightly larger than Earth (Terra) which is located in sector 001. Valara is the 5th planet of the New Eden solar system and it is one of 2 which is class 'M'. The second planet has been named Eu in honor of the Babylonian god of the sea because the planet is 96% water. All other planets of the solar system are incabable of suporting life.

The entire civilization on Valara exists in the southern hemisphere in one gigantic city which is refered to as "The Capitol". This city is organized into levels with each level being between 50-1000m in height. On average the Capitol is 100 levels but it increases to 150 levels in some of the older sections. There is no civilization in the northern hemisphere because it is used strictly for oxygen production. The city may continue to expand up but it will never go north any further.

There are aproximately 30 Billion people living on Valara and only a small percentage of these do not live in the capitol. There are a few hundred Ka'Leigh who call them selves Naturalists who have left the capitol to live in the northern hemisphere. These Ka'Leigh are given this freedom as long as they are well behaved and do not do any damage to the planet.
