The Borg are an imesnsely powerful race of humanoids from the Delta Quadrant. Stregnthened with cybernetic implants, Borg awareness is as a collective. Individual thought is considered primal and should be "assimilated" into the collective. All Borg are equipped with cybernetic hardware. Different devices are given to different Borg to assist in the specific task they work at. Each borg is part of a giant subspace communications network, called the Borg Collective.


In late 2366, a Borg vessel crossed into Federation space, heading for Earth. This was much sooner than Starfleet tactical officers had anticipated, who were caught off-guard. The U.S.S. Enterprise-D was quick to react, but its captain, Jean-Luc Picard was taken and assimilated by the Borg. As part of the Collective, he became Locutus of Borg, and provided important information for the Borg attack.

The Federation's last hope to stop the Borg invasion was at Wolf 359, a star en route to planet Earth. Starfleet raised a fleet of 40 starships to stop the Borg offensive, but it was a complete disaster. 39 ships and nearly 11,000 lives were lost. Locutus explained that the purpose of the Borg arrival was to improve the quality of life in the galaxy. Picard was rescued from the Borg ship, and a final attempt to infect the collective with a computer virus succeeded in destroying the Borg invasion.

In 2369, Lore led the Borg in launching a major new offensive against the Fedration. Utilizing transwarp conduits, they entered Fedreation space in a ships of an unfamiliar desgin and attacked a Federeation outpost at Ohniaka III. During this offensive, the Borg attacked with uncharacteris anger, later found to be due to Lore's influence. The offensive was halted when Lor was dismanted by his brother, Data.

The Borg remained the single largest threat to the Confederation when it was later established in 2393. During a meeting between the primary powers of the Confederation, it was decided that the Borg threat had to be removed. So, on stardate 239507 the United Confederation launched an attack on the Borg homeworld, using a time/space wormhole. The attack was led by the USS Enterprise-F. While a reversion was ran on the outside, Confederation forces with the USS Intrepid flew deeper into the core of the Borg world and destroyed their energy supply.

At last the Confederation was at peace. Apart from the few random war drills that were conducted, there was no longer a need to flex its muscle. However this peace was shattered two years later when the Borg returned in force in retaliation for the damage the Confederation did to them. Causing historical damage through StarFleet and Klingon space, to reach and destroy UCIP Command. Word was quickly dispatched to UCIP Command. Luckily the Borg were stopped before attacking the UCIP Command Super-Station.
