[Commanding Officers Report - USS Chimera-B - LtCmdr Cropa Rojac] [To: First Taskforce Command - Commodore Shane Guzman] [Begin Log] SD 240804.04 As of 0900 hours, our mission in the Antigonis system is completed. We were sent with the orders of finding the USS Quasar and uncovering her fate and in that mission we were successful. Upon entry to the system we encountered the wreckage of the freigthter Aldrastrea. Her crew had been gassed by a neuro-toxin that rendered them completely helpless, but conscious all the while they were murdered by then unknown forces. We recovered one survivor from that damaged vessel. A small human girl named Sarah who is now in the care of our Chief Engineer and Cheif Medical Officer. The Aldrastrea was detonated upon our departure to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. During our investigation of the freighter, our sensors picked up a detonation in orbit of Antigonis Five. As our operations at the Aldrastrea were not yet complete I asked Commodore Guzman if he would take the USS Qashqai out to investigate. The Qashqai encountered a minefield and was rendered disabled. We set an immediate course for the planet. Upon arrival, 2Lt. Xerxes was approaching on a shuttle with orders from the Commodore not to pursue. I reluctantly acknowledged and set the crew to figuring out a way through the cloaked gravemetric minefield. Ensign Mike Williams, our stellar cartographer, cam eup with the best solution and put together some decoys from salvaging some probes and torpedoes with artificial gravity plating. After the Qashqai was able to return to the Chimera, we deployed the decoys and made our way safely to the planet, save for a precarious last second warp jump to avoid a mine from detonating. The order I issued was met by then Helm Officer Ensign Melanie Wilcox with reluctance in insubordination. I have issued a citation on her record and have placed her on suspension. Never-the-less she did eventual carry out the order and we arrived safely in orbit of Antigonis Five where our view of the planet was barred by Magnetascopic Interference, a phenoma usually only present with the presence of formin protostars. We transported an away team down to the planet and were met in combat by Breen fighters, but with more updated technology than we have previously encountered with the Breen. We we're able to fight them off, though we sustained minor structural damage. We were lucky, as the Qashqai was apparently set to blow at any moment by a large piece of hull's close proximity to a plasma relay. It was lodged into the hull by the mine explosion, and was a severe danger to the Qashqai and the Chimera. The probelm was solved by Commander Rodgers (CEO) through a dangerous EVA mission. I understand he recieved some broken ribs from this operation, but it was successful. While the fighter wing attacked us, Security had formed an away team and was performing recon on the snowy planet. During the mission we lost the entire Alpha team including our Chief of Security, Major Michael Combs. The rest of the team's information will be disclosed in a later report. Lieutenant Lakqost and Beta Team perofrmed admirably on the rest of the mission, they were able to successfully detonate one of the magentascopic emitters, allowing us a better view of the planet through the static. We went to retrieve them as soon as the Breen Fighters were disabled. Science was then able to pinpoint the emitters from orbit, and we targeted them with the ship's phaser arrays. We used one of our firings to disguise a transport of a second AT led by Lt. Lakqost to assault and capture the Breen base. Another Breen fighter wing then attacked us. During the battle, a lone Breen vessel found a blindspot on the ventral side of the Chimera's hull where we couldn't hit it or target it with our phasers. Ensign Martin Dexter (Ops) came up with a genius tactic of using a blast from our deflector to bat the fighter away. LtCmdr Birt (CTAC) then destroyed the craft with our phasers. After the battle we then destroyed the last Magnetascopic emitter. Lt. Lakqost's AT successfuly entered the base and had the Chiemra target the control center, which we demolsihed from orbit. This rendered the minefiled ineffective along with the other defensive systems of the base. The AT then split into two teams. Lt Lakqost led his team to the Hangar where they discovered the remains of the USS Quasar and a few liquified Breen in their environmental suits. 2Lt. Jennings' team was sent to the Barracks where they had a strange encounter with an unknown force. (The details of this encounter are protected by the SFI and held under a Top Secret Clearance. Can be viewed in a seperate report.) 2Lt. Jennings will be held behind for questioning by SFI. The USS Archon is 1 hour away. Upon it's arrival I am to turn over jurisdiction to Captain DeWille and to set course back to Bragg. Upon arrival we are set to take on new crew. We are expecting a new Security Chief, Major James Michael Stanton, a new Engineering Officer LtCmdr Nicholas Quayle, and a few more. Preparations are being made for a Memorial Service for Alpha Team in conjunction with an awards ceremony. They will be held in the Chimera's own Arboreteum which Operations and Engineering are preparing for the event. The submissions for award and promotion will be made in a later report. Overall: Our mission in Antigonis was a success. We found the USS Quasar and those responsible for her disappearance. Concerns arise in the fact that we do not know how much information on the USS Quasar and her systems and technology were acquired, as the data of the base was wiped. I fear that the data escaped the plaent along with the lifeform 2Lt. Jennings encountered. We also do not know where the Breen acquired their new technology. However it was done, it does not bode well for the Federation and her allies. [End Log] Lt. Commander Cropa Rojac Commanding Officer USS Chimera NX96899-B
