Biography:
Stephanie's arrival into the world was a bit of a surprise to her parents, who thought they were finished having children following the birth of Stephanie's older brother 13 years earlier. As a result, Stephanie's parents were getting older and didn't quite have the energy to take care of a very active little girl. Her two older brothers and older sister thankfully took over many of the things her parents were unable to keep up with physically. Stephanie became a very outgoing child and had many friends at school and in her neighborhood. Social life aside, she remained close to her parents and siblings.
As she was growing up, she became closest to her brother, Will, as the other two siblings had grown up and had their own careers and families. Will loved the outdoors and both him and Stephanie would take camping trips together. As Will got older, he wanted to join Starfleet. The study of science seemed to be a perfect fit for him, and Stephanie soon had her own aspirations to become a scientist.
It wasn't until she was 15 years old that she learned that she was part Betazoid, quite by accident. Since she had never met her Betazoid grandfather, she was unsure of how to handle some of the random thoughts she was able to detect from some of her human classmates. After several sessions with a psychologist, she learned to control and even enhance her telepathic and empathic abilities.
As soon as she completed her primary school education, she applied to the Academy and was accepted. Science came as easily to her as it had to her brother years earlier. While she still remained in close contact with her brother, who had been assigned a post at a starbase, she found that taking treks into the wilderness with her Academy friends wasn't quite the same without him. Stephanie focused on her studies towards the end of her tenure at the Academy, and graduated near the top of her class.

Stephanie is rather outgoing and straightforward when dealing with most people. She can become somewhat excitable when she is involved in discussions about issues she is very passionate about. Among friends, she prefers to use non-verbal means of communication, and finds that body language sometimes says more about a person than hearing their voice.
