Overview

The current U.S.S. Resolution (NCC-797889) is is an Odin-II class interceptor-reconnaissance vessel commanded by Lieutenant Commander Neel Maklaud, with Lieutenant Edward Keyes as executive officer. The ship is currently assigned to the United Federation of Planet's Second Fleet with the intention of providing support for the full execution of policy options along the Klingon and Romulan borders.

History

The U.S.S. Resolution was commissioned on 240301.11, under the command of Captain Nal Calenzie, with Lieutenant David Savik Rose serving as executive officer.

Following its initial shakedown cruise, and a call at Deep Space 7 to pick up a handful of last personnel, the Resolution participated in the test of the new Stargate artificial wormhole system in 240303, in company with the USS Anderson and USS Neptune. (A mission run with tactical support from Trilista Colony.) During the course of this mission, the ship received severe damage to primary and secondary systems, including the warp core and the primary and secondary computer cores, along with heavy casualties on all decks, before successfully traveling back to the dimension from which it originated.

In 240307 the Resolution briefly played host to several members of the Q Continuum, while attempting to search for the missing Nova-II class science vessel Pandora. The missing vessel was later freed from confinement in a cube created by an infant Q, although this did not occur until after the commanding officer and chief intelligence officer of the Resolution temporarily enjoyed the hospitality of the Q continuum.

The Resolution was present at Trilista Colony for the defense against an attack by a species called the Turhai in 240309. It subsequently missed direct participation in repelling an attempted invasion of the United Federation of Planets by the same species in the system SL-3591, although it was responsible for capturing a Turhai fighter.

In 240402 the Resolution was deployed to assist in the investigation of a series of bizarre murders and abductions on Vega IX, where teams were deployed to the settlements of Sirocca, Berg, and Vega. It was in the aftermath of this that the crew discovered that a holodeck malfunction (caused by interference from local ion storms in the Vega system) had led to the death of Captain Calenzie.

In 240406 the Resolution conducted extensive probing and scientific observations of the Paulson Nebula while orbiting Trilista Colony, and adjusting to the command styles and practices of Captain Anastacia Koss. However, an emergency message, smuggled via innocuous communication messages from inside Romulan space, brought the vessel across the border (in violation of Federation and Starfleet regulations) on a rescue mission of Commander Sirnar Klimpah. (An away team from the vessel subsequently encountered a time dilation field while studying the nebula, which brought them into contact with the long-since-decommissioned USS Copperfield.)

Starbase 342 was the site of shore leave for the vessel's crew in 240410, a matter which allowed new executive officer Lt. Alexsander Rikorski to join the ship's crew. Later, while underway to sector 712, the ship's senior staff played a series of games in the holodeck designed to boost morale and establish more communication among the senior staff. These games were interrupted by a series of shipwide computer malfunctions which left the majority of the staff trapped in the holodeck, with the safeties disabled, before finding a way to safely shut down the program.

In 240504 the Resolution was dispatched to the Anadelia system on a scientific survey mission, where its crew came under the influence of an alien probe. There were numerous effects caused to the crew by the probe, not all of which have been fully categorized by the crew of the vessel, or Starfleet Command.

Reassigned to the United Federation of Planet's Second Fleet in 240504, the Resolution was reassigned as a general patrol vessel and support ship, a function in which she continued until entering refit in 240511. In 240601.09 the ship was transferred to Starbase 99: Versailles, but was detached in 240606.

On 240605.31, the Resolution made first contact with the Imperial Order of the Lhirr, who utilized a telepathically-manipulative probe in order to guide the vessel through the Versailles wormhole and into their dimension. After a breakdown in diplomatic negotiations, the vessel escaped while under fire, although not without sustaining damage to its weapons and structure along the engineering section.

In mid 240607, the crew of the Resolution enjoyed shore leave aboard Starbase 1 in Earth orbit. Despite what was supposed to have been a routine occurrence, the visit was marred by several events, including the chief engineer being possessed by an alien entity, and the commanding officer becoming involved in a child-abuse case.

Former Commanding Officers

Other commanding officers in the service history of the Resolution have included Captain Anastacia Koss, Lieutenant Commander Aleksander Rikorski, and Major Elena Robinson.

The Resolution was reassigned to Starbase 99: Versailles on 240601.09, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Neel Maklaud, with Major Elena Robinson (later Lieutenant Commander Tlaloc Montalvo, then Lieutenant Edward Keyes) as executive officer.
