History
There are eight known starships known to bear the name USS Intrepid, including an Intrepid in Earth Starfleet in the 2150s.
The first Intrepid was an Earth starship in service during the mid-22nd century, under the command of Captain Carlos Ramirez.
In 2153, the Intrepid, along with two other starships, aided the returning Enterprise NX-01 on its way back to Earth when it was attacked by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey.
The second starship USS Intrepid (NCC-3875) was a vessel with a predominantly Vulcan crew numbering approximatley 430.
In 2267, the Intrepid was undergoing repairs in maintenance section 18 at Starbase 11. The base commander, Commodore Stone, rescheduled the Intrepid's repairs, upon giving the Enterprise "Priority 1" status on stardate 2947.3, after being damaged in an ion storm.
In 2268, the Intrepid worked in conjunction with Starbase 6, in conducting a mission to investigate the loss of contact with solar system Gamma 7A in Sector 39J. While traversing that sector of space, the Intrepid encountered an unknown dark zone which was, unbeknownst at the time, slowly killing the ship's crew.
On stardate 4307.1, Starbase 6 lost contact with the Intrepid. A rescue priority was issued to the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) to investigate the loss of the Intrepid in an unknown dark zone. En route, Commander Spock telepathically sensed the crew of ~400 Vulcans die.
On stardate 4309.2, the Enterprise established that the thing which destroyed the Intrepid and the Gamma 7A system was an incredibly huge but simple cellular being whose energies are totally destructive to all known life. The crew of the Enterprise destroyed the form, which was determined to be nourishing itself for reproduction.
The third USS Intrepid (NCC-3875-B) was an Excelsior-class ship under the command of Captain Drew Deighan. The Intrepid was the first ship to respond to Klingon distress signals from Khitomer when the outpost was attacked by Romulans in 2346.
Chief Petty Officer Sergey Rozhenko, warp field specialist aboard the Intrepid, adopted a young Klingon child called Worf who had presumably been orphaned by the Romulan attack.
The fourth USS Intrepid (NCC-74600) was the prototype for the Federation Intrepid-class of starships.
Commander Donald Kaplan, the ship's Chief Engineer, regularly engaged in power conversion efficiency contests with Geordi La Forge, Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D).
In 2375, the Intrepid was on a three-year assignment patrolling the Romulan Neutral Zone. Lieutenant Commander Chakotay of the USS Voyager (NCC-74656) posed as Commander Jason Hayek of the Intrepid on stardate 52136 when he infiltrated a simulation of Starfleet Headquarters created by Species 8472.
In 2379, the USS Intrepid was in Starfleet Battle Group Omega, deployed in sector 1045 to counter the Reman threat.
Background
- The Intrepid was most likely named for several ocean going vessels of Earth also named Intrepid.
Notable Events
On SD240505.xx a Vanguard cell led by Arthur Harsigen attempted to steal the USS Intrepid NX-3875-C. They were thwarted as much by the Starfleet crew as they were weakened by the piratical element within the cell.
On SD240510.xx the USS Crazy Horse is invited to the Starbase Starbucks orbiting the planet Mer in sector 926-D to celebrate peace between the Mer'lian and Krivaldi empires. But things go wrong when an unknown group plants a bomb on the station made with Federation technology. The Crazy Horse is blamed and Captain Ariela and her crew are captured and tortured. The USS Intrepid is sent to help them, and with their help they escape to seek the true perpetrators of the crime.
On SD240511.xx the USS Intrepid is sent to Noirea to discover the fate of a Federation observation team who have seemingly disappeared.
On SD240601.22 the USS Intrepid successfully negotiates peace with the Noriean race, and encourages them to petition for Federation Membership.
On SD240601.23 the USS Intrepid is awarded the Eclipse Award with Solar Flare for actions during the Noriean situation.
On SD240601.xx the USS Intrepid is assigned as the flagship of Task Force Phoenix, along with the USS Sutherland, USS Maximus, and USS Desire.
