Biography
Captain Williams was a career Starfleet officer and he expected his children would follow in his footsteps, from security up to command. His marriage with Dr Julie Vogel was considered by many to be unusual, as she was a spirited intellectual and the complete opposite of his idea of strength and power. She thought her children should go where they wanted. The first son developed a keen interest in security and military tactics and upon graduating from Starfleet Academy went to a security position on the U.S.S. Sarabachi. He was last seen there as Chief of Security.
Vogel, perhaps as a result of being picked on by his older brother, moved to despise tactics of brute force and found a fascination in the zoology his mother practiced. He found a special interest in wanting to treat wounded and injured animals but became frustrated since his patients couldn't communicate with him their ailments. He talked to his parents about this and his mother advised him to consider Medicine at Starfleet Academy. He gave it due consideration and after an internship with Dr Kramer he decided medicine was his career. Vogel entered and completed Starfleet Academy a few years later.

Life After Starfleet
In 2406, Anthony was contacted by Agent Steger of Section 31, regarding his brother's defection to the Vanguard. Anthony remained loyal to Starfleet, despite his brother's pleas to join the terrorist organization. However, he began to sympathize with the Vanguard openly. Eventually, he decided to leave Starfleet to join the Vanguard. He took a shuttlecraft and deserted the USS Crazy Horse, after using the phasers and his own tactical knowledge of the Horse's systems, to cripple the starship.
Later in 2407, he was part of the team that arranged for the mirror-universe Elise Kestral to be exchanged with the actual Commander Kestral. He took the actual Kestral aboard his ship, the Optica, as a prisoner and had her interrogated.
